Hi Have always enjoyed the writings of R K Narayan ever since Swami and friends and A breath of Lucifer took me all the way back to my younger days when I read that book. Written in a style of almost prose like the stories in this book will leave you wondering about them for some time to come after completion of the book. It is amazing how quickly the stories grip you and whip you away in to another world. A world were everything seems normal on the surface but when you look a little deeper nothing is as it seems and sometimes things are upside down. I recommend the book for a few quick reads while travelling or going about the errands of the day. ( ) no reviews | add a review

These haunting tales from India's foremost storyteller, set in the fictional town of Malgudi, are filled with characters from every walk of life. Avaricious merchants, fleshy harlots, foolhardy teachers, beggars and rogues are all observed in minute detail, their stories told with great compassion, wisdom and wry, mischievous humour.
