Description
Single mom Heather Donovan's dreams of home and family are tantalizingly within reach when she settles in Chesapeake Shores. The welcoming arms of the boisterous, loving O'Brien clan embrace her and her son. But accepting their support seems to further alienate her son's father, Connor O'Brien. His parents' divorce and his career as a high-powered divorce attorney have left him jaded about marriage.
Then everything changes. Will the possibility of a future without Heather make Connor look show more at love and his career differently? Heather's just about given up on her old dreams--of love, of family and especially of Driftwood Cottage, the home she secretly wishes were hers. It's going to take a lot of persuasion--and some help from the O'Brien family--to make Heather believe that some dreams are worth fighting for. show less

Heather Donovan has moved out of the home she shared with Connor O'Brien, taking her son to the charming town of Chesapeake Shores, where his family lives. While they are thrilled to have them nearby, Connor is not so happy. He is not on the best terms with his parents, who have divorced and remarried (each other). As a divorce lawyer, Connor is convinced that marriage is not for him. Unfortunately, Heather wants to marry him, more than anything.
When he finds out that Heather has moved to his hometown, he is not happy, but he is not going to give Heather what she wants, marriage. His career has turned him against even considering marriage as an option. He loves Heather and his son, but he has made it clear from the beginning that there show more will be no wedding.
Embraced by his large and loving family, who are not subtle with their hints to Connor, Heather opens a quilt shop and begins her new life with Connor coming to visit, often. With his big, fun, wacky family, pushing him, he resists even more, but he also discovers he is becoming a person he does not want to be. He decides to quit his job, and join the only lawyer in town.
When tragedy strikes, Connor is forced to consider his life without Heather.
Do they finally get together? Can an old rundown cottage finally get these two together?
This is a perfect beach read! Of course it has a happy ending, but always remember, it is the journey, not the destination.
I really like this book. It was charming and the characters were well written and believable. Woods is a deft writer, taking us on a journey over rocky roads, to a conclusion that will tug your heart, and make you remember why we read "Chick Lit". (BECAUSE IT IS FUN!!!)
I received this book from Planned Television Arts for review. Thank You! show less

driftwood cottage by sherryl woods
heather has left her boyfriend and took the child with her. his career of a divorce lawyer has made her really think abou how things really are.
the family and the extended family all live closeby. she has a quilting shop and that's what keeps her in the Chesapeake shores area. Many family gatherings find them together as they try to work through visitations and getting to know one another again.
Love this series, the big extended family, traditions and keeping uptodate with everybody.
an accident occurs and the whole family comes to help. it's where they belong it was said.
as that is the beginning the recovery is dealt with in the same manner, everybody has time to
help in any way needed.
As the show more recuperation goes on they start talking to one another about the important things.
I rate this a 5, it's a wonderful series and always look forward to a new title and can't wait for the next one. show less

I actually started the series with this book and was a little lost to begin with but was able to jump right in and anticipate reading each story!
This was a great story, however, sometimes it seems she drags on a little too long about the end result! I did at times find myself getting frustrated with wanting it to either go one way or the other, rather than remaining in limbo!
All in all, I started the series with this book and now I am anxiously awaiting the newest arrival on Jan 31 2012!!

I found kevin's character to be annoying and the female leads tolerance was astonishing. I still love this series.
