A child is invited into a party and needs his blanket to feel comfort and is dependent on it until he grows out of the blanket and realizes he doesn't need his blanket the way he thought he did which is a great story to show kids that it is time to let go of their special either blanket, pillow, or stuffed animal.
Ages 3-5
Alfie is nervous about going to a birthday party by himself, so he brings his special blanket for comfort. When he gets to the party there are lots of things to do, and he ends up having so much fun he doesn't need his blanket very much. When one of the children puts on a mask and starts scaring the other party guests, Alfie chooses between keeping his special blanket to himself or comforting a scared kid. He decides to comfort the scared child, and makes a friend.

This book was a little easier, at least I think, for a group of younger students to comprehend. The story line is about a young boy who goes to a birthday party and isn't sure about how he feels about being somewhere he's not used to being. The book has illustrations of boys and girls, and not just white boys and girls, which is why I thought it would be a good book to show diversity and multiculturalism.
In this book it demonstrates the difficulties a child might have when going to a new place by themselves. In this book we see Alfie struggle to attend his friends birthday party alone so he brings his blanket. Towards the end of the story we see him opening up and having fun with his friends since he was not afraid anymore.
A very cute book about Alfie going to a birthday party alone. He decides to bring his comfort blanket and refuses to put it down to play with bubbles or eat. His birthday friend decides to scare his friends with a tiger mask and frightens the other children. Alfie decides to put his safety blanket down and hold both of his friends hands and resolve the issue. This is a good book to help little kids who are being presented with no having their mom and dads with them at all times. For instance, the first day of prek.
Alfie has been invited to a birthday party but when he realizes his mom isn't going to be there he gets scared.Alfie takes his blanket with him to the party but soon he finds it difficult to play while holding his blanket but he still keeps hold of it. But when Min refuses to play unless Alfie holds her hand he puts down his blanket so that he can play and hold Mins hand. This is such a nice story and would be fun to read to little kids.
This book is about a little boy whom is afraid because he is going to go to his first birthday party without his mother or sister. He is so afraid he has to take his blanket with him. However, at the birthday party there is another little girl that is just as scared. And she needs Alfie to hold her hand. As well as the blanket was getting in the way of playing with the other children. He finally decides to put it down. This is showing kids the development of emotions in personality development. He understands he is scared (his emotion) and know can express it in a socially acceptable way. Not needing his blanket anymore.
