The author, Frank Asch, crafted this story to show that babies need love and attention from their mothers, but once they are content and comforted, then they will be okay. Baby bear needed a lot of things for him to be able to sleep, and like moms do, Mamma bear did everything she could to help her baby sleep. Mothers always try to help their children stay as calm and comforted as always. ( )

This is a wonderful book where the mother bear tries to fulfill all the wishes of baby bear before he can sleep. When he wants the moon she cleverly gives him a large snow ball! Its a perfect bedtime book but can also be used in the class to discuss hibernation, winter and family. ( )
