This was a very fun book to read. I love the illustrations in it. This book is good for those kids who might be riding the school bus or doing something new for the first time. There is all these "rules" you should follow and people might make things sound scary but it is never as scary when you actually do it. Also, speaking up may help sometimes.

Window for kids maybe a mirror though ( )

This book is wonderful, Kyle is dreading his first trip on the school bus. So his big brother gave him some rules to follow while riding the bus. At the end he realized that he did not need rules to ride the bus. This book will be good for English classes for writing a book report, or determining the main character of a story. I enjoyed reading this book to my grandsons and they agreed with Kyle that riding the school bus was not so bad after all. ( )

Kyle is nervous about his first day riding the school bus. His brother, James, tells him about lots of scary things that can happen on the bus if you aren't careful. James wants to help Kyle, so he gives him a list he titles "Ten Rules You Absolutely Must Not Break if You Want to Survive the School Bus" filled with tips he picked up from his time riding the school bus. Kyle breaks almost every single rule James gave him on the first day riding the bus and is petrified that something terrible will happen. However, Kyle discovers that the bus isn't so bad after all- as long as he ignores all of his brother's rules! This book is very relatable for elementary school children who are nervous about riding the bus for the first time. I would also argue that it's relatable for anyone who has been anxious about trying something new where they don't know anyone. James' depictions of the bus cause Kyle to become terrified of ruining his life, which is, of course, a little overdramatic. Kyle realizes that his anxiety about the bus was mostly in his head and that it doesn't have to be a bad thing, which is something kids can apply to any new, scary situation that they encounter. I liked this book, but it did not particularly stand out to me other than being a good message to share with kids about trying something new. ( )

For someone who never rode a school bus, this is my favorite easy book of the semester. The book tells a story of a first grade boy who is about to go on a new adventure which is taking the school bus. Kyle was afraid of what could happen during his first ride and what made his worries even worse are his older words and the list of rules he listed for him. However, Kyle found out that none of these rules matter, as he broke all of them and had a great first bus ride. This will be a great book to read during a read aloud session. It teaches both children and adults that we need to face new experiences with an opened mind and not be afraid of them. ( )

His older brother is walking him to the bus stop for the very first time. Riding the bus is not as easy as it seems. There are 10 rules to follow in order to survive the school bus, but there is an extra rule in the end that will surprise you.
I would read this to all grades to have a fun read and to introduce lists. ( )
