I really love this book. Redmann is a fantastic writer and this book is so, so difficult to read because of the topic. Micky's pain and determination and isolation is incredibly well described and I was even more moved the second time I read than the first.
A hard-boiled detective novel featuring New Orleans lesbian PI Micky Knight, who has to investigate a kiddy porn/molestation ring while working through her own issues with sexual abuse. *Way* too gritty and hard-boiled for me; I could barely finish it. I didn't like any of the characters, I didn't like the plot -- in fact, the only thing I really liked was the (plentiful and explicit) lesbian sex scenes. Unless you *like* Mickey Spillane, give this a miss.
Micky Knight is a lesbian detective who is a little too proud of her toughness. She takes on the case of Cissy, who is believed to be sexually abused. In Cissy's sleepless nights, Micky sees echoes of her own past.

It was only fate.

Your curse could have easily caught me.

And I would be at th... (show all)e edge.

Falling, falling.
First words
I cursed myself for being a good girl and promised that little old ladies would get no more favors from me.
