Both Hammett and Raymond have done much better work in other formats. Hammett's talents are better suited to the mystery-suspense novel, and Raymond did much better when he could stretch out on a full Sunday page. But this is a decent adventure-secret agent strip of the 1930's, and was no doubt well-received. Both the art and writing seem a little stiff in this daily strip format. ( )
