Overall, this book was an interesting dive into a culture and time that I knew nothing about. I found myself in the hot geography of Asia Minor with the retreating Greek Army. The story itself was enjoyable, but his use of the language was what I found most appealing. Statements like "Aging was not a stairway but a landslide - A period of corporeal stability followed by a sudden subsidence." and "Anywhere else such silence would be unnatural for such a large gathering - it was the curfew of the heat." I was there with them. Overall, a good read no reviews | add a review
