Oswald Chambers first gave the studies on the Sermon on the Mount in 1907 when he served as lecturer in God’s Bible School in Cincinnati. His emphasis is on Jesus our Savior first and then as teacher. When Jesus spoke these words to the Jews, they must have been shocked; they had been taught that the sign of blessing from God was material prosperity, yet he said “Blessed are those who are poor in spirit…” Chamber’s book, Studies in the Sermon on the Mount can help you better understand these teachings of Jesus . Two copies of this book can be found on the library shelves under the number 226.906/CHA.
