Stearns is a sadly underrated author, with a fresh voice and a clear perspective of childhood. ( )

I've no idea why this isn't more popular. The drawings are gorgeous, the action starts immediately, the themes of love, loyalty, honor, and resiliency are important but unobtrusively presented, there's plenty of humor, both satire and slapstick, etc. etc. If I were a child I'd give it five stars for sure. Boys might not want to be seen reading it, but if they read it for a book club, or with their families, they'll love it. Girls & boys alike will crush on Sir Rosemary.

The only reason I can't give it five stars is because I try real hard to reserve that rating for books I recommend widely, and I just can't see myself pushing either my teen son, or my husband who reads SF & thrillers, to read this. But everyone who is willing to read a juvenile fantasy will probably love this!
