This book is an informational book about health, exercise, and personal health. The book talks a lot about how to eat better foods and which foods to avoid. This fit into my theme well because it gives health information in a fun way. The dinosaurs almost make the book seem humorous.

"Dinosaurs Alive and Well" is a great book that teaches all about health, nutrition, feelings, and personal hygiene, with dinosaurs as the main characters. The information is both accurate and accessible to children, and it is presented in a fun, entertaining way. The books offers suggestions for healthy eating, and also talks about foods that should be avoided in mass quantities. There is an adorable two page spread that gives a quick but comprehensive review of how to properly wash each part of your body, using a dino as a model. This book could be used as a read aloud with younger grades, but it would be best to do so in segments. So, you could read one topic a day, and the book would last approximately one week. In the end, you will have touched on many of the topics that appear in the health unit!

I like these concept books illlustrated by Marc Brown. We have the one about making friends. I like the aspects of dealing with your feelings. They do a good job of showing both the bad and good feelings.
