Some Assembly Required by Margie Engel is a book that works like a map for designing quilts. For some, you can pretty much use the maps and try to duplicate their quilts. For me, the book is a great springboard, and I'll use a little from here and a little from there, and come up with my own design. Some Assembly Required teaches techniques for strip piecing, applique, color theory, balance and symmetry, trapunto, and embellishing. The maps in this book are great for beginners and advanced quilters alike. Before you know it, you will have made your own design for a quilt. ( )
