A very enjoyable biography with Christian values emphasized. I like how it tells of Robert Boyle's father's prayers of protection and how being saved from an accident is attributed not to chance or luck, but God's hand.

This made the advances in science very real as well as progressive inventions, experiments, and discoveries are integrated in the story of his life. Engaging explanations and stories.

First words
Robert Boyle lived a life of contrasts. He was born to one of the richest families on earth, but he chose to live a simple life.
The scene is a green valley of Ireland in the fall of 1631. A mist covers the lower part of the valley. A chill is in the early morning air. Soon the sun will be higher and burn away the mist. Nestled in the valley is a small farmhouse with thick walls, tiny windows and a thatched roof. A poor peasant family lives in the house.
