I originally skipped this title in the series because I really didn't enjoy the one before it (Street Game). Truthfully I was getting sick of more and more new characters being introduced when all I really wanted was to hear the stories of the original two teams.
This book was exactly what I wanted out of this series: for once the heroine is as kick-ass as she should be, and the story returns to the original team. Plus there was action in the over-arching Whitney / conspiracy plot.
More like this please Christine Feehan!
Now I've had my ups and downs with Christine Feehan, her Dark whatever series makes me cranky but I like this series. This is one of the best of this series that I have read.

Sam Johnson is a smart guy, multiple degrees and a talented soldier his paranormal abilities make him good at infiltration and taking out soldiers. When he meets Azami "Thorn" Yoshiie he's smitten and he finds a worthy partner in her, if they both can stay alive. Both of them are orphans, both were found by caring people who did their best but both have to deal with their pasts and with various issues. Whitley is their target and Azami's not sure if she can trust Sam because he trusts the daughter of the man who tortured her.

Azami is a great character and while she show more bends for the relationship, she's still her own person. Sam was also a lot of fun. The ending felt a bit rushed but overall this story kept me interested. The push and pull of the romance was fun to watch and the characters entertained me. show less
Christine Feehan is one of my favorite authors. I have read the "Dark" series since I found "Dark Prince more years ago than I care to remember. When the "Ghost Walker" series came out, I tried the first one and just couldn't read it. I picked them up a few years later and found I loved them. Senior moment I guess. This one didn't have the same excitement for me as the others. I'm not a prude, but it seemed there was more sex and less story than in any of the others. Overall, I really liked the book because of the past characters that appeared though out it.
Probably my favorite of the Ghostwalker books. I am hoping Azami and Sam have parts in any future books. This doesn't really read any differently from the other books in the series: a lot of repetition (which seems to be a writing flaw for Feehan), major violence, broken-ish women and/or men...
Not sure why I waited so long to read this one, but it's one of the best of the series.

As its name implies, Samurai Game story-line is rooted in honor, loyalty and duty. All of the characteristics that exemplify the Ghostwalker units.

This installment of the series revisits the original Ghostwalker team featured in "Shadow Game". Life at the Team 1 & Team 2 compound is about to get a whole lot more interesting. Seems there's a certain satellite system that the unit want to acquire, Dr. Whitney is still determined to acquire the Ghostwalker children and there's a new player on the chess board. A player with the skill, determination and will to give Whitney a run for his money.

A Strong female character to rival even the most lethal of show more the Ghostwalkers! the book takes a methodical step in revealing Japanese businesswoman Azami 'Thorn' Yoshiie past: her link to Dr. Whitney and her traumas. Every aspect of her being begins and ends with Dr. Whitney. That is until a certain Ghostwalker slips under her defenses.

I just loved this book!

I'm giving this one 3.5 stars. I really love all the books in this series. Including this one. I really enjoyed re-visiting old characters and learning what has been going on in their lives. The beginning of this one really started well. Full of action and suspense, but started to fizzle around the middle of the book, and never really got a good momentum going again. I like the characters, but didn't feel that connection that I felt with other characters like Lily and Ryland, or Jack and Briony.

The one thing that did annoy me the most with this book was during the love scenes, Azami(Thorn)called Sam, Sammy. He never comes across as a Sammy to me. It took a lot away from the story for me.

All in all, I enjoyed the book, but it was not show more one of my favorites in the series. show less
While I enjoyed this one more than the last one I read about the Ghostwalkers there were still a couple of slow spots (bedroom scenes that go on forever that I pretty much skipped). The story was OK and I liked the new heroine well enough but I'm still thinking that I'll only read any further volumes in the series from the library. It's about time for Ms. Feehan to come up with some new ideas. Definitely escapist reading.
