The Southern Sisters are at it again. Mary Alice is
taken by surprise by the sudden appearance of Sunshine
Dabbs, who has just married her youngest son, Ray, in
Bora Bora. Wanting to do the right thing, she decides
to get to know Sunshine's family and drags Patricia
Anne along on a little visit. They are shocked and
dismayed to find themselves at the end of a pig trail
of a muddy dirt road in a compound of ratty old
trailers surrounded by junk, washing machines and pit
bulls. Thinking that their worst nightmares have come
true and that Sister's baby boy is about to be taken
to the cleaners by a gold-digger, the sisters follow
Sunshine's grandmother, known to one and all as
"Meemaw", into her tiny trailer where they literally
fall over a dead body on show more the floor just inside the
door. Things get more complicated when they discover
that Sunshine is missing, and they have their hands
just about full.

It's another romp with the sisters, and as much a
treat as eating Ben and Jerry's in your favorite
jammies.

#5 in the “Southern Sisters” mystery series set in Birmingham, AL. Enjoyable read as always—Sister discovers she has a new daughter-in-law, a Barbie doll lookalike who married her son Ray, a dive boat owner and captain in Bora Bora. When a man no one claims to know is stabbed in the chest in their trailer with Sunshine’s grandma’s hog-butchering knife and Sunshine disappears, Sister and Mouse fear the worst and start poking around looking for clues, and of course end up in a heap o’ trouble as usual. I love this author’s voice and have people who remind me exactly of Sister and Mouse that I know. Always a pleasant visit.
Mouse and Sister just can't stay out of trouble. This time Sister gets a surprise daughter-in-law. Their worst fear is that the new in-laws are "common as turkey tracks" but things get worse when a body shows up impaled on the floor of one of the in-law's trailers.

These books just get funnier and funnier. Even if you aren't a southerner, you can't help but laugh.

I only hope to be this "with it" during my seventh decade of life.
