The Vincent Brothers

Once again Abbi has almost burned my kindle. Holy heck can she write. When I dived into the Vincent Brothers I was not really sure what to expect. Though I'm a fan of Beau and Ash, I think I am now more in love with Lana and Sawyer. The Vincent Brothers was a great book. I couldn't put it down, which lead to a late night and some very strong coffee this morning. I was happy to see Sawyer move on and see what was right in front of him. I absolutely adored Lana and I was rooting for her all the way. Now I can't say Sawyer didn't pee me off at one or two points but he more than makes up for it in the end. What a guy. I loved seeing him go from being a boy who was shy and didn't go after what he wanted to a man who fought for the girl he show more loved. He earned his way into Lana's heart and I have no doubt he is there to stay.

Lana, my heart wept for you. Such a trying time in your life. Lana, who has held herself together and never complained about her life finds herself wanting to open up to Sawyer. She has spent her entire life playing second best to everyone and now in The Vincent Brothers it is time for her to take centre stage. I was cheering her on the whole way. Never once did I think she would fail. Lana is a girl who has been overlooked one too many times. Now with a makeover and a boost in self confidence she cuts herself a path leading right to Sawyer Vincent. This boy had no idea what is about to hit him. I loved how she decided to go after what she wanted, and wow did she win in the end.

Sawyer plays a different role in The Vincent Brothers compared to The Vincent Boys. In the first one you can't help but feel sorry for him, he is the victim after all. But deep down I never really believed that he loved Ash the way he should. He was just a boy who really didn't know what he wanted. Now that he has matured with the breakup of him and Ash he is finally seeing other possibilities. Yeah I can say there are moments in the book when I wanted to smack him in the head with my Kindle but alas I resisted and kept reading. But I was equally as annoyed at Ash for her stupidity, sometimes people just don't think and unfortunately others get hurt because of it. In the end I am totally TEAM SAWYER!

Loved this sequel to The Vincent Boys. Sawyer and Lana's story I think is even sweeter than Ashton and Beau's. I enjoyed the attraction and all the obstacles the couple had to overcome. Sawyer's hurt from his previous relationship and Lana's vulnerability due to her family makes them a good match. Sawyer needed someone to put first that wanted him just as much he wanted them. The realizations and growth Sawyer has over the course of the book is satisfying. I like that Lana has known she wanted Sawyer for years but also took the stance to never be second best. I finished this book in just a few hours. It is a smooth read that had me crying in all the right places. Glines knows how to pull at the romantic heart strings. This is definitely show more a read for the contemporary romance reader. show less

First of all let me say that I am a total Abbi Glines fan. I was ecstatic when I found out she was writing The Vincent Brothers, because I totally and completely fell in love with Beau Vincent in The Vincent Boys. To me, Beau Vincent is the epitome of hotness. When I found out that The Vincent Brothers was about Sawyer Vincent, I wondered if it could possibly be as good as the first book, but true to form, Abbi Glines NEVER disappoints. The Vincent Brothers was amazing. The story picks up six months after Sawyer and Ashton have broken up and he gave his blessing to her to be with Beau, only Sawyer is finding this to be a lot harder than he anticipated. Despite the time frame, he is as angry as ever, every time he sees them together. show more Lana McDaniel, Ashton's cousin, has always had a thing for Sawyer. As a matter of fact, Sawyer was the main reason she was coming to spend the summer in Alabama with Ashton, only the Lana from six months ago isn't the same Lana that she used to be, having undergone a transformation, now no longer prim, proper and reserved, but smoking hot, which did not go unnoticed by Sawyer, or the other guys in the story.

This is Sawyer and Lana's story, and let me tell you, the Sawyer Vincent that we got to know in The Vincent Boys is not the same Sawyer Vincent that we get to know in The Vincent Brothers. Granted Beau will always be my first choice (I always go for the hot bad boys), but Sawyer is coming in a close second. Those Vincent Boys are pretty irresistible. I really loved getting to know Lana. I really liked her a lot. Even though she puts up with a lot, she is quick to forgive, but also stands her ground. The chemistry between Lana and Sawyer is sizzling. Like I said, it is not the same Sawyer we got to know in book one. There are some very hot scenes that left me fanning my face. Sawyer is a jerk a few times, but he is very repentant afterwards, and it was touching to see him so sincere and emotional with his apology. It made me want to go jump in his arms to. It was also good to see what was going on with Beau and Ashton now, and some of the other characters, as well as getting to know some new ones.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Vincent Brothers and I am so happy to have had the opportunity to read and review it early. Abbi Glines is an artist. The pictures she paints with her words are nothing short of brilliant, enabling the reader to feel like you are right there in the middle of it all, watching and experiencing everything. One thing I especially enjoyed was the ending of this book. It left me feeling completely satisfied and happy with where the series went. If you love contemporary romance that sizzles, with two of the hottest guys around, then I encourage you to read The Vincent Boys and The Vincent Brothers.

To tell the truth, I was a tad nervous about starting The Vincent Brothers. It's been on my radar ever since I finished The Vincent Boys in 2012, but sometimes books just don't turn out the way we might hope. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this one! It doesn't deliver the same feel as the first book, but I'm fairly sure that I enjoyed this one more.

Although Lana was nothing like Ash, she had some of the same things going for her. She was just so sweet, with a little bit of a wild side. But can I just say that I found her adorable? I'm so proud that she got her own book, because it blew me out of the water! In The Vincent Boys, Lana is portrayed as a girl who's always been show more jealous of Ash, but can be sweet at times. In The Vincent Brothers, we get to see a whole new side of her! And she's not nearly as jealous or vindictive as you might think. She's just a regular girl who's not very sure of herself. I adored her development throughout the book.

I also adored Sawyer. In the beginning I was very unsure about him-- he was still after Ash a bit, and it seemed like he might use Lana. But towards the end, I really started to warm up to him. He's very caring, and I loved that he was willing to drop everything for his friends. I think that my only real issue with him was that he doesn't know how to show his feelings. But it's okay, he's a guy. I do think that he could be a bit overly possessive at times, though.

Moving on to the tension-- and the romance! The tension between Sawyer and Lana was really good from the very beginning-- and let me tell you, there are some seriously hot scenes between them! I also loved the little emotional bits between him and Lana. When you have both characters' point of view laid out in front of you, it's fantastic the things you can learn! I'm a big fan of dual points of view.

All in all, I really enjoyed The Vincent Brothers, which ended the series on a fabulous note! Well, an almost fabulous note. I'd have liked a longer epilogue. ;) show less

The second non-SpecFic book I want to highlight is The Vincent Brothers, the sequel to The Vincent Boys, which I reviewed two weeks ago. This book focusses on Sawyer, and we get to see how hurt and miserable he is after the events of The Vincent Boys, and how Lana tries to help him get over Ashton.

Whereas Boys was all about Ashton cheating on her perfect boyfriend Sawyer, Brothers is about Sawyer coming to terms with all the changes in his life. His family has been shattered by the revelations about his father, his school life isn’t so great anymore and his friends want him to get over Ashton quicker than he can. Into the midst of all this comes Lana, Ashton’s cousin who’s always had a crush on Sawyer but feels that Ash is so show more perfect, there’ll be no competing with her.

I liked the dynamic between Lana and Sawyer a lot better than that of Beau and Ashton, although to be perfectly honest I think that’s just because Lana and Sawyer aren’t betraying someone in the process of getting closer. Lana is quite strong and stands up for herself when she feels wronged, which was great to see, and Sawyer begins as a quite a flawed character (he wants to use Lana to make Ashton jealous), but he soon gets over that and acts like the sweet boy we met in the previous book.

We get to see a bit of Ashton and Beau though, and how their relationship is going. Although they seem happy, now that I can see their relationship from the outside it makes me feel uncomfortable. Beau is more of a possessive attack dog in this book than a sweet boyfriend. He’s always described as growling and acting like an animal, demanding why people are on Ashton’s driveway, why they are staring at her, etc. Not only is it tiring, it takes away from all the romance in their relationship, and I’m left with the impression that surely Ashton can’t be too happy with him. But of course, she is perfectly happy.

Abbi Glines has served up another entertaining read in The Vincent Brothers, and although this book concludes the series, I am interested in reading more of her works in the future, especially the paranormal-romance, the Existence trilogy. show less

Just for mentioning my favorite song (and band) of all times, this book deserves a million stars...

It was better than its predecessor, but the love (triangle? square? pentagon?) dragged a bit for me, and Sawyer (though I liked him very very much and I wanted him to have his HEA) acted like a total jerk to Lana. The poor girl was nothing but sunshine and sweetness (in a non Mary-Sue-ish way) but life treated her miserably and Sawyer blind love for Ashton, made him oblivious to the perfect girl right in front of his eyes...

The Epilogue was perfect and wrapped up the series, so I'm wondering what could the third book be about?

just a fluffy "perfect for summer" book. I liked finding out how this all ended and who got who.
although Ash, from Lana's perspective, is a pretty annoying girl. can she seriously not breath without Beau holding her hand to do it?!
I liked Lana and how much backbone she had. at least most of the time :)
