An alpha male werelion and his human mate work to save his pack in this paranormal romantic suspense novel from a New York Times–bestselling author.

Sometimes You Mate For Life
Katie Smith is the best of her class, part of an elite hunting force trained to eliminate werewolves from the hills of Western Virginia. She's good at it because she has the kind of focus and drive that won't back down no matter how steep the odds. Call it southern sass. Whatever it is, there's no denying her show more willingness to risk everything for the only man she's ever cared about—a man on the verge of losing his very humanity...
Sometimes You Mate To Stay Alive
For the past ten years Jordan Pride has dedicated his life to protecting his people from a deadly shifter virus. But in a rare moment of distraction, Jordan's guard drops just long enough for his fate to take an irreversible twist. 4.75 Stars

This series has become one of the my favorite Adult Paranormal/Suspense Romances
I had to have them all.
Each one just made me want to read the next.

My least favorite was the 1st book in the series, 'Fated (Dark Protectors, #1). I rated it 3.5 and stated with some fine tuning it would easily be 4 to 5 stars.
Well, Ms. Rebecca Zanetti definitely did the fine tuning in the rest of this series!

The mc's of this one are show more Katie Smith & Jordan Pride, shifters in the Dark Protectors world.

The chemistry and adult scenes are Super Charged and melt me romantic.
These two set the pages on fire.

The suspense and action is high octane.
Kept me on the edge of my seat devouring every page.

My favorite of the series so far.

I admit I got into this one so much that if there were errors, I flat out read over them.
That is how much I got into this one.

I just hope the next in the series will continue to wow me.

Katie Smith is a lion shifter who is infected with a virus and can no longer shift. Jordan Pride is the Alpha of his pride and his people won’t accept a mate for him who can’t shift. Shifters who get a virus turn into ravening werewolves and have to be killed so since Katie’s infection she can sense a werewolf, she trains to help kill them. Until the day Jordan becomes infected. These two were meant to be together. Will there ever be a cure for Katie and can a cure be found for Jordan before it’s too late?

These two have some serious chemistry going on. And stubbornness. Geez! Could Jordan be any more stubborn? I wanted to smack him upside the head many show more times. Other than Jordan being too stubborn for my tastes, this book is a hit with me. Containing paranormal elements, peril, mystery, plotting, humor, battles and sexy steaminess I recommend this one to pleasantly while away an afternoon. show less
I didn't realize that CONSUMED was the fourth book in the series until about half way through reading it and i honestly would have never guessed that it wasn't the first if I wouldn't have noticed that.

The pace was nice and fast, I was never bored and the characters were all fun to follow. The twists were well revealed and they was plenty of action. Katie and Jordan had fantastic chemistry together and I loved how their relationship progressed even though they were both pretty stubborn. The world that the series is set in was easy to fall into and I cant wait to read more about it. I loved how the last chapter took place 2 years later so we could follow up on them, I'm always disappointed when books end without letting us know what show more happens so that was a great surprise.

I don't think I will go back and read books 1-3 because I don't really like to go backwards but I will defiantly be following the series here on out.

Another incredible hit for this series! I really liked that the story progressed a bit in the time frame and that things changed, such as Janie growing up, we meet Garrett when he's not a newborn, we get to see how the mates are doing with their lives, we get a glimpse into Zane and Kalin and we get to delve more into the shifters world. I love how the author manages to mingle every single storyline so far into one full novel each time. Katie and Jordan were so much fun to read and they sizzled together. Awesome!

This series is a really great urban fantasy series - but I just don’t think it’s for me. I’ve read a few of the books and so far I just have not connected to the material or any of the characters. But if you are into heavy world-building and shifter romances, you’ll likely enjoy this series.
