( ) I am a huge fan of Jeaniene Frost and this was the third book I have read of hers, I love paranormal romance and the Night Prince series has everything you could want from a paranormal romance book. Again this book is written from Leila’s point of view and there is some sexual content in the book however all of that was in context with the actual story. This book starts where the other left off so nothing is missing, the author does make a point of letting those that haven’t read book 1 know who the characters are and what they do so a nice little recap for those that have waited a while to continue the series. We start this book with Leila still not being able to use her powers, but she is also untouchable by fire. The problem with this is that in her mind she is not useful to Vlad anymore and when a dinner party turns wrong she breaks up with him and leaves. Escorted by Maximus she goes home to discover that another girl has got her gig. Determined that she can make it out on her own she hangs around for a bit hoping to sell off some of her things and then tragedy strikes at the carnival with a huge gas explosion. Thinking her best friend Marty has been killed outright she is distraught and heads off to the next safe place with Maximus. But Maximus has a little plan of his own, he tells Leila that it may have been Vlad that caused the explosion as she left him. This was all a way for Maximus to get closer to Leila, which he wanted to do from day one but Leila was not interested in him, only Vlad. Meanwhile Leila is having dreams of Vlad, although she doesn’t know it yet her powers are coming back. While Maximus is trying his best to keep Leila safe in a hotel room, guns start shooting and Leila and Maximus is captured. It seems someone else is not happy with the Leila/Vlad situation and wants to rectify that situation. I am not going to spoil it for you though so if you want to know what else happens you should definitely read this. A lot of changes happen in this book and trust me you will love it especially of you like vampire reads! Again I was hooked from the start and I lost myself in the book completely. Another fantastic book from the lovely Jeaniene Frost. I can’t resist reading every book in this series, even though some are definitely better than others. Leila’s and Vlad’s relationship problems this time—and the constant push and pull of who got to go after their enemies and who didn’t—took away some of the usual fun I have with these books. I feel like they’re going through the same growth period Cat and Bones had to go through, and I didn’t really want a front row seat to that again. That said, I like this author, and I do like these two as a couple. The ending was pretty good, and I’m curious to see what happens next. Since I know Frost can write characters that change and grow, I have hope the next one will be better. These books end in the most frustrating way! But I luckily have the entire series and plan on reading them all at once. I still feel as if I'm reading only part of a story with the way the books end so abruptly. Aside from the ending, this book was kind of annoying. Both Vlad and Leila worked my nerves a bit until they got themselves together. And once they did, there was no stopping them. Those two really are all or nothing in regards to everything: their relationship, their enemies, their families. This one really took the reader on an emotional roller coaster. The series isn't boring, that's for sure. no reviews | add a review
Is abridged in
Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover Vlad has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever -- especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her. Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust -- the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend?
