My Thoughts:

This series just keeps getting better. The second book in the series finds Reilly Steele and her crew of GFU researchers looking for clues to the identity of killer with a well-planned and well thought out gruesome agenda. This is not for the faint of heart. Finding the link that ties the murders together was well played out by the author. Another profiler was introduced, Reuben Knight. Personally, I wanted to offer this irritating little twerp to the killer as a bonus. That aside... the husband and wife team of Casey Hill has brought another dynamic offering to the table with Inferno. Can't wait for Hidden... the next one.

My hard copy was called Inferno actually (original title The Punisher) but it is not about an actual inferno, although you could misjudge that like me by looking at the book cover.
But what a nice surprise this book was! Reilly Steel is a female forensic investigator at the Garda Forensic Unit in Dublin, and together with her colleagues Pete Kennedy and Chris Delaney she’s put on the investigation of a gruesome murder. Soon one murder turns into two and she believes it’s possible there is a serial killer on the loose, a really smart one at that who does not leave any clues. They have to discover the meaning of the staged victims, why they are staged liked in the way they are and what his motive is.
I really liked the small circle of show more characters, their dynamics worked really well and I also found the plot and theme very interesting and original. The only person I liked less was Reuben who was called in to help with the investigation. The story progressed at a good pace, giving morsels of useful info throughout the story and with one big discovery of who it was at the end. The story is thought through obviously because it was well constructed. I will certainly look for the next (or previous) instalment. show less
another solid entry in the CSI Reilly series. This serial killer is very clever, but faces our Irish team. Some new characters, some surprises, all together quite an enjoyable read (if you don't mind graphic crime scenes....)

Darn - appears to only be 3 books released in this series. Putting #3 in my 'get' list!
