Facing the Dark tells the story of Simon Lomond, whose father has been recently imprisoned for murder, and Charlotte Westcot, the victim of that murder. Simon works to prove his father's innocence and along the way builds an unlikely friendship and alliance with Charlotte.
Facing the Dark tells an exciting story, as the two work together to solve a murder. The story also conveys the ideas of parental loss and loss of innocence as the two young protagonist begin to question which adults they can and cannot trust as well as the horrors of ruthless business practices.
