In my opinion this is a great book for a bedtime story. I would not suggest reading it for a read aloud because it doesn’t have that big of a message, but I think it’s the perfect short story for reading before bed. The language used in the book was very clear and descriptive, great for younger children to understand. For example, one page said, “Packing the suitcase mom yelled: in bathing suits, in flip flops, sunblock and hats, in flashlight, and whiffle ball.” I love how the author includes all this detail because it teaches children what’s all needed when packing for a vacation. The point of view I told in first person from the little girl in the family. I think the author was smart in having a child tell the narrative show more because it helps other kids relate and feel the excitement that the girl in the story did. The illustrations also really added to the story and made it engaging. The pictures filled up the entire pages with detail and color. This book teaches children how much work can go into packing before a vacation. I recommend this book as a short and fun read. show less
An anxious family is going on a summer vacation, so they excitedly pack up their suit cases and put them in the car. After dinner, they take out a picture album to remind themselves of past vacations. They laugh and bond over the memories they’ve captured. Good book for at home with your family, but would not suggest for a great read aloud.
Cute rhyming story about getting ready for vacation. It is a version of the Night Before Christmas.
This is a book where the pattern ent is practiced. This book is about a little girl and her family trying to get ready to leave for a family vacation, and you know how that goes, something is always bound to get left behind.
