The pictures are lovely, but not lively. The text is easy enough to follow, detailed enough to be worth reading, but mostly 'this happened and then this happened' and so, again, not engaging. I'm sure it's a labor of love, but I just didn't connect with this book and I don't know how a child would, either.
Author and illustrator Demi wrote/illustrated this book was for children with a target range of eight to twelve years of age. The story of Saint Joan of Arc's life is short but well written. Each page is illuminated as if the art was created in the time that Joan of Arc lived. The art follows her biography and will keep the young readers interest as they learn the story of the patron saint of France. And the art will have you browsing through this book again after you have read it.
A beautifully illustrated, informative introduction to the patron saint of France.
