The Gingerbread Boy: Level 2 (Easy-to-Read, Puffin)

The book is about a woman who made a little gingerbread boy because she and her husband wanted a son. But the little cookie ran away and didn't listen to the woman, man, cow, horse, and farmer to stop running away. Towards the end, a fox tricks the gingerbread boy into letting him carry the boy across the river and eats him.

I like this book for the imagination it gives of having a gingerbread person come to life. I like the artwork for a simple and not too detailed. It was sad when the boy got eaten by the fox. To me, the book gives a reason why you should listen to adults for if the boy listened and didn't run away, he would have not been eaten.

This book would be good to read to a class when some kids are not listening to what an adult show more tells them to do. It is also good to read when you are about to cook gingerbread men. show less
