Set in 1918, Dear Frank offers the reader a glimpse of life in Boston during the waning days of World War I. Young Andrew, writing to his older brother Frank, a serviceman fighting overseas, is intent on keeping his brother abreast of all that is going on around him, especially the rising fortunes of the Boston Red Sox, led by the young left-hander--and hard-hitting--Babe Ruth. Dear Frank: Babe Ruth, The Red Sox, and the Great War is a great new book by W. Nikola-Lisa. The book is set during WWI and discussing topics during that time including Babe Ruth, and the Red Sox. The book is really a series of letters from one man to his brother and this format keeps readers interested.
I let two of my nephews read the book - one age 10 and one age 15 and they both loved it. I too enjoyed the book and feel that I can recommend this book to a variety of readers.
Highly Recommended!! ( )
