I was glad Edward was added towards the end. He always makes things fun. I'm disappointed in part of the story line which is why I only gave the story 4 stars. There was so much leading up to finding the big bad guy and just like that it's over in a heart beat. Wish she wouldn't rush the endings so much in her stories. Lately it seems she has been doing that more and more. Such awesome storylines and then bang 2 paragraphs and it ends. She needs to let the ending breath like a good wine. Don't rush it.

I don't think we'll ever get back to the feel of the first Anita books, but Hamilton is working her way back up. After a few books full of nothing but multiple rounds of sex with multiple partners, we're finally seeing fights with monsters again. I think the story line with Micah's parents is a little hard to swallow, but it's not a deal-breaker. I suppose those situations exist, but I doubt you'd find two in a family, particularly when the child in question wasn't raised that way. But whatever. I also just finished the latest Merry Gentry novel, and it's pretty obvious that Hamilton is crazy in love with her husband and current partners because her novels are practically oozing "we're all in love" all over the bookshelf. So, more power to her, but I read these books, not just because of the romance, but because of the action (the fighting, not the sex). There was a nice balance in the beginning, and if Hamilton could find her way back to that, I'd be thrilled. ( )

Listened to the audiobook. It was a fun listen. Not enough vampires. :D ( )

maybe I'll buy the book and read it instead of listening to this audiobook. after discussing Anita's bra size I just couldn't take it any more. I do miss Jean Claude, though.

This one's for Anita and me. Here's to another twenty years of facing our fears, solving mysteries, catching bad guys, and finding love.
Artists and their art, mirror and reflection, yin and yang, the push and the pull, separate but joined, in the end it becomes an act of co-creation, because to truly create art the artists themselves are re-created.

Book description
Some zombies are raised. Others must be put down. Just ask Anita Blake.

Before now, she would have considered them merely off-putting, never dangerous. Before now, she had never heard of any of them causing human beings to perish in agony. But that’s all changed.

Micah’s estranged father lies dying, rotting away inside from some strange ailment that has his doctors whispering about “zombie disease.”

Anita makes her living off of zombies—but these aren’t the kind she knows so well. These creatures hunt in daylight, and are as fast and strong as vampires. If they bite you, you become just like them. And round and round it goes…

Where will it stop?
Even Anita Blake doesn’t know.
