A sweet love story about the power of God when we follow His path. I found myself really caring for the characters. While no real twists or turns, it held my attention and I enjoyed this recommendation. ( )

An immigrant from Czechoslavakia, Sophia Velikonja finds herself keeping house for a grieving widower and his three children. Gradually, her loving presence and gentle wisdom brings the family back together again. I found Sophie to be a wonderful character - caring, intelligent, warm hearted and loving. She made me laugh and she made me cry. This is a beautifully written, feel-good story that I was sorry to finish. ( )

Dedication
A book from my heart . . .
It is only fitting that
it should be Jackie Short's.
May we long study His Word together
and be changed forever through our efforts.
May our friendship ever mirror that of
Elizabeth and Mary---with
Christ planted firmly at the root.

The dark-haired woman walked from the tall stone building, her coat pulled close against an early frost. It felt good to be headed home, and even better to know that tomorrow was Sunday, a day off.
