Much of what Chaykin extrapolated from the media culture of the 80s into his dystopic future has already come to pass. In many ways it wasn't much of a stretch, but it is still chilling to see how talking head pundits have become so predominant, and how "reality" television mirrors the mentality of "Friday Night Firefight LIVE!".

It’s a dense, long read, as Flagg tackles various challenges, including chaperoning an illegal basketball team through South America, accompanied by various dames, Raul the talking cat, and Luther the robot deputy. Like most science fiction, it’s as much a portrait of the time of its creation as the future.
