Zan can tell a girl's future when she pokes him in the belly button. When he meets Austin, he immediately falls in love with her. Zan can't see her future.

I enjoyed this book, even though the belly button power is a bit weird.
It was interesting, funny, and eventful.
Great read for a teenager. Beware of sexual situations and cuss words.

You know what... I actually did like this book. It has got to be one of the most far fetched premises I've ever encountered (boy can see the future of any girl that pokes her finger into his belly button... what?!) but somehow I found myself getting into the story. Granted, the writing has a lot of holes in it. I dont think we found out Zan was African American until at least halfway in, the plot with Austin was underdeveloped (what is up with her, anyway?) But overall, I do think this is a book teens and YA will enjoy. I think it's something about Zan that kept me interested... so interested in fact, that I read part 2 (Swarm).

This was actually a really fun read. I wasn't expecting it to be quite as good as it was. The concept - at the beginning - definitely weirded me out, but the writing style is good, the book has a good flow to it. My major critique was that I didn't get that the MC was a guy for the first chapter (I actually thought Julie was just a lesbian). I think it's probably because of the author's name and the cover - since it features a girl.

But - once I realized my MC was a guy, it was a good, fast, fun read. I will most likely pick up the next one in the series.

Although this fits the description of a paranormal romance, it definitely isn't your normal, run of the mill paranormal romance! Instead, its a really cute, original story of a high schooler who discovers that he has a pretty unique form of ESP. Being a typical 17 year old boy, he uses this to his advantage in the dating department...up until he meets a mysterious "older" girl who is immune to his gift/curse. Again, being a typical 17 year old boy, he promptly becomes obsessed with this mystery girl, which leads him on an adventure even a kid who sees psychic visions through his bellybutton would be show more hard-pressed to believe!

The characters are fun and likeable, and the plot develops quickly and smoothly. A certain level of suspension of disbelief is key to getting the most out of this story, but its well worth the read, especially for someone looking for a silly, but entertaining, to spend a few hours. I enjoyed the little snippets of background info on a reason as to how Zan may have developed his powers. I hope this back story is developed further in subsequent novels, because even though the story wraps up with a warm and fuzzy ending, there are still some unanswered questions that are gnawing on my mind. Definitely recommended for older teens and young adults, as sex is heavily discussed--there's nothing overly graphic or overly gratuitous, but it IS on the main characters' mind a lot, as well as some underage drinking, so a word of caution for anyone planning on giving this to a younger teen, lol. “Poke” by Dalya Moon even though it was written for a younger audience which I am not in body but I am in Spirit I liked it. The book was well written and kept you wondering how it was going to end. It had twists and turns in it and kept you going right up to the end. I cannot wait to read Swarm 2 the 2nd book in the series it is the next book in my too read category. I only saw a few typo errors in the proof reading done in this story. That is always something the turns me off in a good book but they were minimal in this one.

I really enjoyed this quite surprisingly as it is not my usual type of book. Geared to a much younger reader and seen through the eyes of a boy it had some really interesting and unique details. A very exciting paranormal/fantasy adventure. Really engages the reader.

Zan is not your everyday teenage boy. He has a secret power. When a girl put her finger in his belly button, he sees snippets of her future. At a party held by his best friends he meets a girl who's future he can't see. From there things get more interesting as he battles evil and fights for the girl he loves. Really unusual but enjoyable reading!
