Description

She hired him to take her now she wants even more. Lori might be a popular romance writer, but she's never been anything but a flop with sex and love in her personal life. Still a virgin at twenty-six and increasingly frustrated by her inexperience, she decides to take matters into her own hands. She hires a talented, sexy male escort to take care of her inconvenient virginity. She assumes one time with Ander will be enough, but she never dreams how much pleasure he can make her feel. Once show more isn't nearly enough. Twice isn't enough either. Soon, she becomes one of his regular clients. Lori knows that nothing would be as foolish as falling in love with her paid escort, but she's never been wise with her heart. And, despite his professionalism, he doesn't seem entirely immune either. show less

A successful romance author who has always been single hires an escort for personal research reasons.

When I read this, I had a couple of books that I was halfway through but I’d concluded I wasn’t in the right mood for either of them; I’d tried starting a romantic fantasy sequel and struggled to stay focused; I didn’t feel motivated to pick up any of the books I have out from the library. I decided to check out Escorted after it was mentioned in a discussion about romance featuring couples who are good at communicating with each other, especially in regards to physical intimacy.

It certainly has that. The story is tightly focused on Lori and Ander’s interactions, and although generally my preference is to be given a fuller show more picture of at least one protagonist’s life and non-romantic relationships, I thought the focus worked for this story. I also prefer more polished, and less prosaic, prose but I thought the prose worked here, too.

Or maybe I just wasn’t in the mood to mind?

I liked the communication and the realistic way that, even though their relationship is founded on communicating honestly (Lori is very clear that she doesn’t want Ander to pretend), it also begins with certain boundaries in place, and isn’t a straightforward matter for either character to be vulnerable and admit to wanting more from their relationship. I also liked that the narrative is single POV and so there’s a degree of mystery, wondering exactly how Ander feels about Lori.

Well-written and engaging enough. Ending was a little weak, but at least it wasn't a love-will-make-everything-perfect deal.

I don't know if the character's pen name was after the author's or if the author took the character's pen name, but either way it was totally eye-rolly. If the book had been even slightly less well-written, I would have given it up for a DNF on principle alone. If it was an attempt at being tongue-in-cheek, it failed. Don't break the fourth wall, is what I'm saying.
I have to admit that when I borrowed this via Lendle, I wasn't sure if it would hold my interest. WOW. This book is very character intensive! Yes, there is sex, but it's really a great story about two people trying to redefine themselves at the same time they redefine and strengthen their relationship. My litmus test is always if I think I'd want to read anything else from this author, and YES, I do. I've discovered she has an alternate pen name & I look forward to diving into another series of hers under that name!
Great idea, well written. I wish there had been a little more story and a little less sex. After I while my brain went numb and I began skipping entire encounters to avoid it.
I loved this. It's worth reading a number of times to actually understand Ander more, throughout his relationship with Lori, but it it was a darn good read, but the sex scenes were rather excessive.
Curio sets the bar high for "virgin heroine engages services of prostitute hero" but I'll try this for free.
Haven't read yet but I really need to.
Lots of my GR friends have given this 4 stars and a good review.
Definitely Adult with Adult intimate scenes and from what I can tell well written.
