In The Chosen Baby, James and Martha Brown decide they want to adopt. They call up Mrs. White at the adoption agency and they discuss adopting a child and the process. Mrs. White visits their home and tells them she will call them as soon as a child is available for them. Months go by, finally they get a call and they are asked to come meet a little baby boy. Once they meet him they decide he is perfect and he will be named Peter. Peter moved into Martha and Roger’s house. He is a perfect, healthy baby boy. He starts crawling and walking and getting older. One day while playing outside he plays with a little girl. So Martha and Roger decide they want to give Peter a baby sister. They call Mrs. White and she says she will call them when a baby girl is available. A year goes by and they finally get a call. Martha and Roger adopt a baby girl and name her Mary. Peter loves his baby sister. As they grew older their parents tell them stories of their adoption. I recommend this book to grades k-3 or to anyone with a family member who is adopted. This story helps bring to light the reality of adoption and is written in language kids can understand. This book is used in many adoption agencies throughout the world. ( )

Portrays adoption in a very positive way. Kind of odd the way it makes it seem as if the adoption process is similar to picking out a puppy or going to the grocery store. But overall I enjoyed it and it's nice to see how open and excited the parents in the book are about adoption. They don't make it seem like a strange thing to do. ( )

A great story to read to adopted children. The illustrations are really well done, too. The book is about a couple who decides they want to adopt a child and they receive their son, Peter, after a long wait and much patience. After they see Peter playing with a little girl, they decide to adopt a daughter into their family. The book shows us that you don't have to have an set of birth parents to make you a part of a family. ( )

This book teaches children that each one of us is special in our own way. It tells the story of a couple who adopted two children and the process they went through to make it happen. The story can bring awareness to students that everyone is wanted no matter what the circumstance is in your life. I enjoyed reading this book.

The topic in this book, isn't an ordinary topic in most children's books. This book explains adoption in a childlike way and is very heart touching. The water colors make the pictures seem very happy, but only an adult will read inbetween the lines and notice the bigger picture. This is a great book for an adopted child, a parent thinking about adopting, or anyone who curious about adoption. It is a very happy book. ( )
