“Life has a funny way of creating it's own tests. It throws curve balls that make you do and think and feel things that are in direct conflict with what you had planned and don't allow you to operate in terms of black and white.”
I think I loved this book even more than the first! I was so happy to get into Livie's mind.
Livie has handled everything she has been through without issue so it seems. Losing her parents and pretty much Kacey too. But man this girl is so good at keeping everything in check.

I couldn't agree with Kacey more. Livie has always bottled it all up. She helps her sister, she makes good grades and she knows who she wants to be. But what if she doesn't? This is show more what I loved so much about this book. It was more about Livie being true to herself and finding out just who she is. I loved seeing her come into her own and having fun!
I loved Ashton. I pretty much loved a lot about this book. It wasn't a light fluffy read though. It made me tear up just as much as it made me laugh. I know one thing about this series so far though, it makes you think. At least it has made me think. Sometimes you have to wonder if you have been lying to yourself your whole life without even realizing it. You tell yourself you want something but then when it gets down to it.. you realize that maybe you don't. Fantastic read! show less

There’s a long pause. So long that I check the screen of my cell phone to see if the call is still connected.
“Trial and error, Livie. That’s the only way that I know of.”
We met both Kacey and Livie in the first book of this series. We followed Kacey through her breakdown and healing. We learned what these two sisters endured that led them to the life they were living. First was Kacey’s story. Now it’s time for Livie’s story of moving on…
I was a little apprehensive… I wasn’t sure where this book was going to take me. I wasn’t sure if it would live up to the first book. In some ways it did and some ways it didn’t (not necessarily a bad thing). show more This story is nothing like the first one; it’s a story of it’s own. It picks up kind of where the last one ended but on Livie’s life after Kacey heals…
We all know Ashotn. The “bad boy” who enjoys the company of beautiful women, rarely the same one. Frat boy. Party boy. Never falls in love. Now enter Livie… Now we have a story like many others? No, not completely. This story may have the cliché undertone, but has a storyline of its own.
I can’t lie. I was torn with who to root for. The gorgeous, nice Irishman or the unbelievably hot bad boy. It is an internal struggle I think everyone will feel for quite some time in this book. Livie sure feels it. She knows what doors she should step through, but her heart wants another. Things are never easy when love is knocking on the door.
“Because you’re not a one-night girl, Irish.” Leaning in to place a kiss on my jawline, he whispers, “You’re my forever girl.”
If it were only that easy!! Get ready for a rollercoaster. You will be up. You will be down. You will laugh. You will cry. KA Tucker delivers all of the right mixture of emotions in this book that you will be sad that it ends. How does it end? Everyone dies, duh!! HAHA. Obviously that isn’t true. However, you will not regret picking this book up, but you will regret ever having to put it down!

First off, I am a total K.A. Tucker fangirl. I love her books! 10 Tiny Breaths was one of my very favorite books. You can read my review of it here. You don’t absolutely need to have read 10 Tiny Breaths to read One Tiny Mistake, but you should. Really, you need to read it just because it’s a fucking fantastic read.
Anyway, on to the book at hand. Meet Livie. Livie is perfect. She has never gotten a single grade less than and “A”. She know what she is doing, knows where she is going and is on track to get there. She is starting her Princeton career with a complete road map ahead of her. As we all know, nothing is that perfect, right? Livie is outwardly perfect
because she doesn’t want to let down her dead parents. show more
“I think your parents helped create that plan and you are holding on to it for dear life as a way of holding on to them.”
She has put so much pressure on herself to be the person she thinks they expected her to be, she is ready to crack under the stress.
Enter Dr. Stayner, her sister’s psychiatrist who convinces Livie to have phone meetings with him.
”He simply said, “So I hear you’re a ticking time bomb.”
He gets Livie, and tries to make her start to actually live, rather than just function.
“You are one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met, Livie. You respond to human heartache so acutely. It’s like you absorb other’s pain. Despite your extreme shyness, you will do just about anything not to fail. It’s time to find out who you really are.”
What will it take to get Livie to live?
Enter Ashton.
Ashton steals her jell-o shot. Out of her mouth. Because he wanted to. That’s the kind of guy Ashton is.
“And he’s pretty much the hottest guy at this school. And also a giant ass. And a bit of a man whore.”
And he is also broken. (you know you love those tortured heroes!) Ashton doesn’t to relationships (well…there is one…) He does one night stands, and a lot of them. He is the “perfect” son and does everything his father wants to make his father look good. He is also miserable. He is living a lie out of fear. He doesn’t want to be the person he is, but he feels forced to continue on his path. (Hmmmm, think Livie can relate to that???) Ashton wants Livie, but he feels he can’t have her…of course.
"Why?"
"He looks away for a minute and I watch his jaw clench... "Because you're not a one-night-stand girl, Irish." Leaning in to place a kiss on my jawline, he whispers. "You're my forever girl."
Oh, did you just swoon? Yeah. Me too.
So, Ashton pushes Livie away. Into the arms of his friend Connor. Connor is sweet and stable. Caring and safe. He is not Ashton.
I am not going to lie, guys. There is some crossing of the cheating lines here. It’s important to the story and it makes sense, but it’s cheating nonetheless.
The dance of Livie and Ashton is heartbreaking to watch. It’s also amazing to see two people find out who they are and discover that life is not always built with a roadmap. It’s okay to veer off into the woods sometimes.
There is pain, there is heartbreak…but there is also love and hope. It’s beautiful and you need to read it. show less

5 “Longing for Freedom” Stars for both the story and the narration!
It is no secret that I have been a long-time fan of KA Tucker. This is the sixth book of hers I have either read or listened to, and I have loved each and every one of them. Perhaps the reason that I enjoy Ms. Tucker’s writing so much is that while all her stories seem to have some level of romance intermixed with mystery/intrigue, they all defy a standard mold or formula. Instead each time you sit down to enjoy one of Ms. Tucker’s creations, you know that you will be treated to a fresh and entertaining, emotionally complex story that defies convention but which you are sure to feel down deep in your heart. One Tiny Lie is no different. This story made me laugh, show more cry and swoon, all at different points throughout, but, no matter what, always kept me glued to my earbuds!
For those of you who are wondering whether One Tiny Lie can be read as a stand-alone, the answer is yes, as I listened to it as a stand-alone! Although this is book 2 in the Ten Tiny Breaths Series–and does involve a character that plays a prominent role in book 1 (Livie, who is the little sister of the heroine in Book 1, is the heroine of book 2)–I had no trouble following the story line as the entire romance arc, and a sufficient amount of the heroine’s tragic past is explained in One Tiny Lie.
Having been the strong, dependable sister following her parents’ tragic death in a car accident, notwithstanding that she was the younger sister, Livie has always remained faithful to her promise to her father that she would become a pediatric oncologist. Now that she is finally starting college at her parents’ old alma mater, Princeton, she is getting closer to realizing her dreams. Livie’s sister however, as well as her psychologist, seem concerned that Livie is bound for a breakdown if she continues down her current pressure laden path. So part of their plan, which is happily aided by Livie’s, party girl roommate, is to get Livie to let her hair down, relax, party, as well as, finally lose her virginity. Livie, however, is not so sure she needs the distraction, or needs to change her goals, until she meets exactly the wrong boy, Ashton (the captain of the rowing team) during a wild night at a toga party. Moreover, when the perfect, marriage material, long-term plan worthy guy (Connor) does ask her out, and begins to show interest in her, Livie is left to ponder just what exactly she really wants out of life.
Elizabeth Louise delivers a fantastic performance in One Tiny Lie. She perfectly nails not just Livie’s character, but each and every one of the numerous other characters that play a part in One Tiny Lie. She is even tested with accents and ages, as Connor has a mild Irish brogue, his father a stronger one and there are even several children in the story; and Ms. Louise performs believable, authentic characterizations on all fronts.
Moreover, my favorite part of Ms. Louise’s performance is that she is a master at conveying emotion. This talent is incredibly useful in an emotion rich story like One Tiny Lie. The end result is that Ms. Louise not just reads us this touching story, but she actually manages to bring it to life!
If you have not yet had a chance to experience One Tiny Lie, then I highly recommend that you do. Moreover, if you’re an audiobook fan, then Ms. Louise’s talented narration makes this a great story to experience in audio format.

ACTUALLY 3.5 stars. Due to copy and paste, formatting has been lost.
I started One Tiny Lie with the hope that it would be just as good, if not better than Ten Tiny Breaths. And while it maybe wasn't as good, it was still an awesome read, and I really enjoyed getting to see into Livie's mind. In Ten Tiny Breaths, she was very closed off. She was a loner, but in this one we really get to see her open up and thrive, which I thought was really nice!
Livie was an interesting character for me. I can very rarely identify with very driven characters, so it was kind of a shock for me. But she was just learning who she really is, and that kind of self-discovery in a character always makes me really happy. The only thing that doesn't make me happy show more about that trope is the fact that it almost always involves a guy. In this instance, though, Livie doesn't really let the guy define her. Her reasons are her own, and I'm so proud of her for her decisions.
On that note, let us talk about the love interest for a bit. Ashton. Oh, how I systematically loath and love you. Why am I capable of both emotions? For one, I loath you because you're a pig. You treat women like trash, like throwaways. I very much don't like that about you. And yet it seems that lots of lovable guy characters do the same?! So I kind of forgive you. A little bit. Because even though you do such terrible things like that, you're still a nice guy when it matters. But this brings me to the next question: Who are you? I really don't think that you know, which is a disappointment. I get that your past was rough, I really do. But I'd like to understand you better. Your closed off personality makes it so hard to get to know you.
Ashton & Livie together was like a power couple. They really seemed to understand each other, but I don't really understand their relationship. I feel like relationship-wise, we should have gotten more development on them. Something to really help us identify with them as a couple and really root for them. As is, I think that they need a little more work in the relationship part. This, however, did not dampen my enjoyment of One Tiny Lie!
This was, in fact, a lighter read than Ten Tiny Breaths, which was actually really nice. I liked the introduction of new secondary characters (Reagan was so fun!), and the new dynamic of the row team boys. Kacey's sense of humor and spunk was still absolutely amazing, and the fact that Kacey & Trent were still thriving together just melted my heart. *happy sigh*
All in all, One Tiny Lie is actually a really good read. I would definitely recommend it for fans of Ten Tiny Breaths! show less
I started One Tiny Lie with the hope that it would be just as good, if not better than Ten Tiny Breaths. And while it maybe wasn't as good, it was still an awesome read, and I really enjoyed getting to see into Livie's mind. In Ten Tiny Breaths, she was very closed off. She was a loner, but in this one we really get to see her open up and thrive, which I thought was really nice!
Livie was an interesting character for me. I can very rarely identify with very driven characters, so it was kind of a shock for me. But she was just learning who she really is, and that kind of self-discovery in a character always makes me really happy. The only thing that doesn't make me happy show more about that trope is the fact that it almost always involves a guy. In this instance, though, Livie doesn't really let the guy define her. Her reasons are her own, and I'm so proud of her for her decisions.
On that note, let us talk about the love interest for a bit. Ashton. Oh, how I systematically loath and love you. Why am I capable of both emotions? For one, I loath you because you're a pig. You treat women like trash, like throwaways. I very much don't like that about you. And yet it seems that lots of lovable guy characters do the same?! So I kind of forgive you. A little bit. Because even though you do such terrible things like that, you're still a nice guy when it matters. But this brings me to the next question: Who are you? I really don't think that you know, which is a disappointment. I get that your past was rough, I really do. But I'd like to understand you better. Your closed off personality makes it so hard to get to know you.
