This book made me shed a few tears and reflect on a few things. I was very happy that this book addressed a relationship that is rarely given a positive platform. I was moved by the different poems from different notable authors and the artwork made me even more drawn to the story and made me think of how close and tight my relationship is with my dad and made me appreciate that he is here to support me.
It can be hard to find poetry written about a father's love. This book of poems shows a variety of fatherly love that is rarely written about. The poem's that stand out are those about father's that do not live with the family or the step-father. These children do not experience the same feelings as those who have a constant father figure full of unconditional love. Having had a very unique and close relationship with my father, most of these poems could not touch the love I have always felt for him.

In this poem selection book, There are poems by all different authors. These poems all have one theme. They are all about dads. Perspectives of dad's from sons and daughters. Some of the poems rhyme, but some of them do not. Some of the poems have one stanza, and some of the poems have many. One of the poems, "First Baseball Glove," is almost full story. There are a couple poems about children who do not live with their fathers, and a poem about a little boy who has a stepfather. Some of the poems have repeating lines. Most of the poems are about a father, but some of the poems have dialogue between a father and child. I like that this book has many different styled poems, but all are about the same topic of daddies. I think students show more can relate to this book because children have different types of fathers in their lives. Children can also see the different styles of poems in this book. show less
This is a poetry book solely from different children's stories about their fathers. I think this is a great book because there aren't many storied revolving around the child to father bond. "My Father" is my favorite poem in the book because I can relate and can connect with the little girl's story. I believe that this is a great book to read to students when teaching about different relationships or even for teaching a poetry unit.
This is an amazing poem book that I believe many people will enjoy. All the poems revolve around a father figure. As a person who did not grow up with a father, it was nice to read this book. Most of the poems were happy, sad, and helpful. I recommend this book to everybody to read.
