Description

Communication is a fundamental vehicle for generating church growth. Good communication goes beyond words correctly spoken to incorporate the physical surronundings, worship, practices, leadership styles, and many other communication symbols. This book shows why much of the church growth literature and principles now on the market have failed to help churches grow--because too little attention is paid to the communication symbols that will make the models successful. In this volume, John show more David Webb shows how to uncover the communication story in a congregation and adapt the technology of church growth to a variety of circumstances. He show pastors and other church leaders how to discover the symbols and stories that create a congregation and how to adjust church-growth techniques to fit the needs of their particular congregations. show less

Dedication
This book is dedicated to my family. First, it is a living tribute to those who have cared for me most. My wife, Judy, has endured through my two decades of graduate studies. My children, Leslee, Brad,... (show all) and Michal, have sacrificed time and energy because of their dad's workaholic personality. My mother, Edith Webb-Slack, and been a constant admirer of all her children, encouraging us with her cheerfulness.
Finally, this book never would have happened without the support of my first and favorite mentor, the late John M. Webb, former Professor and Academic Dean of Lincoln Christian College in Illinois. His chief desires for his children were solid educational experiences and long, successful ministries in God's kingdom. I don't know that we've succeeded in those goals yet, but without exception, we are attempting to do the tasks, each in our own way.
                "To God be the glory!"
