With the characters in the story all animals, it is easy to understand that this is a fantasy. Yet, with the encouragement that the author inputs within the story, it helps create a more meaningful story that the children can follow. Characterization: The protagonist in this story was Franklin. He was afraid that he wouldn't be able to remember his lines, however as he became a round character he learned how to overcome his stage fright and did an excellent job at his school play.
