This book is a good example of contemporary realistic fiction, because the fictional characters could be real people solving the mysteries. The book offers many colorful pictures and larger font for beginning readers. The pace of the book is faster than a standard chapter books, so that the beginning readers attention is kept on the story. The suspense of the mystery will also help to keep the attention of the reader. The word 'click' is a different color in order to draw the readers attention to the action. Cam Jansen has been a favorite of children's for years. The 'Young Cam Jansen' books are created for the younger, less experienced reader, while offering a wonderful story for children.

Why do early reader books have to be so awful? My 7-year-old neighbor recommended this series to us because "there's pictures on every page." That's nice but I get a lot more banter about the illustrations than reading. I keep hearing things like "Mr. Jansen looks like a teenager. Maybe he's really her brother." (I'm pretty sure it's the freckles that throw her off.)

I feel obligated to note that my daughter would probably give this book 4 stars but she doesn't have a goodreads profile so this rating is based solely on my opinion of the book.
The book is good and interesting but it was short and to me it didn't really make sence.
