Off to the Sweet Shores of Africa is a colorful collection of original, African inspired rhymes. There are playful rhymes of the West Africa village life. All the verses are filled with charming characters who are full of wisdom or pure silliness. It has beautiful illustrations to go along with the sweet sounding tales. Great book for lower and upper elementary children.
This is a great multicultrual book. It shows children about Africa and how other communities live around the world. It gives them an insight on how others are different than us.
This book is fictional because it is composed of poems that are stories about Africa. The art in this book is mainly computer drawn and there are also some hand drawings. The content includes different poems about Afric, there are poems about drums and also the animals in Africa. The curricular connection is geography and cultures.
