Description

In this comic reimagining, Darth Vader is a dad like any other--except with all the baggage of being the Dark Lord of the Sith.

I am super surprised that no one tought of this concept before this book! Luke and Leia obviously had typical childhoods with their adoptive parents, but the idea of Vader raising children is just too amusing a concept to be overlooked. Putting his sociopathic tendencies aside, Brown takes us to an alternate Star Wars universe where Vader has somehow gotten custody of his children and must balance work with being a single parent, coach Leia through relationship issues, and deal with her rebelious streak. I can't wait to read Vader and Son, because it is sure to be equally hilarious!
Just as funny as the earlier "Darth Vader and Son". I am so going to have to add them to my collection.

Personal favorite: In the first half of the page, Darth Vader is speaking to IG-808 (the bounty hunting robot, "You are free to use any means necessary, but I want them alive. No disintegrations!" The second half of the page then shows Luke and Leia bouncing on their beds giggling as a disgruntled IG-808 tries to get them to calm down, "Luke, Leia it is bedtime---" "Stop." "Children you need to go to sleep..." "%*%$&*"

Hilarious!

Cute and familiar to parents. Uses some characters, situations, and quotes from the movies, but does not attempt any coherent congruency.
So, you guys are going to get sick of me calling Brown's artwork and storytelling style charming, but it is. And charming isn't usually my thing, but it's so well done, and so funny, that I keep coming back.

And like with Vader and Son, this takes completely normal situations between a father and daughter, and turns them on their head by using Vader and Leia, which just adds to the, well, charm of this book.

Library book. It's a quick, easy read, but again, I probably won't be buying this one. I like the Change-bots much more, and will invest in those instead.
Already the first image (with Leia cutting out the hearts) was amazing.

This was a lovely collection with funny and heartwarming images, reimagining several of the iconic scenes and quotes from the movies in a comical way with Darth Vader as a father. Baby Luke and Leia were adorable and still strangely in-character. Also, it was great to see the twins act as typical siblings (like crashing their ship and hiding it from dad), since there obviously wasn't too much of that in movie-canon.

I kinda wish I had read it in English so the quotes would have been the same as in the movies, but this was still entertaining. ("Valami telemarketinges hívás." "Nem gondolkoztál még a szelektív hulladékgyűjtésen és a komposztáláson?" "Amúgy show more nem lennék a helyedben, amikor apu értem jön." Sírok.)

Still, there were a few images that had that typical "haha, silly women never say what they mean, how are we men supposed to understand them?" feel and it was kind of meh, so 4 stars.
