Avery Morgansten didn't move thousands of miles from home to go a prestigious college like most rich kids or even move for a big chance at a career. She moved for a fresh start, to a small town and a small college to start over and get away from the drama that was her life. Its refreshing to be in a place where nobody knows the rumors, nobody judges and nobody bothers her.
Avery never thought in a million years a beautiful boy with bright blue eyes would change her life, would make her fall in love and feel things she never expected. Things she thought died years ago.....Cameron Hamilton is alluring, gorgeous and one the most eligible bachelors at school, meeting him is the most unexpected and thrilling thing that's ever happened to show more Avery, but shes scared, scared of relationships and scared of being hurt.
Only the town and the parents Avery left behind know about the "incident" that happened when Avery was fourteen, the secrets and rumors that followed her throughout highschool and the devastation that followed after. To them Avery was flawed and weak, a girl who lied and ran away, but to Cam, Avery is a breath of fresh air, he wants her and is willing to wait, go at her pace but doesn't know how long he can wait if she wont trust him. There is no moving forward when no trust is in the relationship and those are darts that keep stalling them. Avery craves Cam's friendship and the intimacy he offers but between her shame, her fear and the secrets shes still hiding not even the overwhelming desire she feels can bring her to move out of the past.

I had so much fun reading this book, I absolutely adored Avery and Cam's friends to lovers relationship and had tons of laugh out loud moments reading their banter and the development of each layer that progressed the couple closer. It was sizzling where it needed to be and authentic and real at the most crucial times. I think what I appreciated the most about the writing was the moving portrayal of Avery's character growth- she went from scared and isolated to working through her grief and fear without the use of the hot male or other characters. Cam and the sidekick of friends of course created desire and longing in Avery to have the normal and gave her a push in the right direction, but I loved that she came to terms with her sexuality on her own and experienced her evolving emotions by taking things at her own pace especially in the sex department with and without Cam. Lynn-aka Jennifer Armentrouts female characters never fail to be independent, endearing young women.
This book made me so happy I wanted to stand up and reenact the scenes, doing both Cam and Avery's parts. I was excited, shocked, gaspy, swoony and loved every minute of this romantic, sexy and empowering story. show less

A magnificently compelling story about overcoming tragedy and rebuilding life. When Avery Morgansten moves away to attend college, she plans to find herself again after a horrible, life alternating high school experience, but what she doesn’t plan on is Cameron Hamilton. After meeting Avery, Cam can’t seem to get her out of his head. He simply can’t get enough of her, and fate seems to be on his side. Though Avery is determined to keep her distance from the gorgeous man who keeps turning up everywhere, she finds that she simply can’t. She’s drawn to him as much as he is to her. As Cam and Avery develop a friendship and eventually relationship, Avery’s past and vulnerability threaten to destroy the happiness they have found. show more Avery must find a way to trust Cam with the truth of her past or risk losing him forever.
I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down! Cam’s character is delicious! From his outgoing, lovable, can’t take no side, to his brutally protective and brooding side, he is the perfect hero! Every time Avery retreated into her shell and pushed Cam away, I found myself inwardly yelling at her “NO!” This book will draw you into the emotional roller coaster that Avery is experiencing and have you urging her to just trust Cam with her heart and the truth. I commend the author for addressing such a sensitive subject and showing how much it can scar a person, both socially and emotionally. I loved how Avery worked through her pain, fears, and anger and learned to trust in someone who really loved and cared about her. A phenomenal read by J. Lynn. A must read! Do not miss this book!

Have Mercy, Cam! No man should be that amazing. It should be illegal. Yet, he is. He is that and a bag of chips.
Avery has the parents from hell who didn't support her at a time when anyone with a soul would have. Ergo, her parents have no souls. I want to kick them in the shins and scream "You know why!"
So, Avery leaves and goes away to college to get away from the soulless monsters and try to rebuild her life on her own terms.
On her first day of class Avery literally runs into Cam and fate has it's way with her. He is what she needs and she is what he wants. It isn't insta-love at all. It's heartachingly real. Avery can't be honest about her past and Cam needs her to trust him. The ups and downs are so real I found myself close to show more tears a few times. I just wanted Avery to be healed and admit that Cam was good for her.
Through it all, Cam is a saint. He is patient, kind, respectful...everything she needed and deserved. I just want to eat him up with a spoon!
I loved everything about their story and honestly was crushed when it ended. I wanted more! show less

Oh. My. God. Why the hell did it take me so long to read this? I've devoured everything written by JLA (If you don't know, that means Jennifer L. Armentrout)but I'm now just beginning to slowly consume her J. Lynn's stuff. And now I'm thinking that I'm might just be moving a bit too slow. I should know better. JLA is a master storyteller and her J. Lynn books would be no different. This, this book was amazing. I love Cam and Avery. I did not once get that depressed feeling you get from other New Adult books, I did cry my eyes out at certain parts but it was sad and touching in a fantastic storytelling kind of way, not depressing. I also laughed out loud, gasped, and swooned. Oh the swoon. Cam sounds dreamy and he's a sweetheart and one show more hellava male lead.
Whoa there Ms. Armentrout, now I have to take a cold shower. This story was so freaking hot, a lot of the book was the sexual tension between Cam and Avery and the tension was so (I wanna say freaking every other word) tangible you could grab it and wrap yourself in it. This tension between them really propelled the story and made it so good, so dreamy, so freaking hot.
Okay, I'm gonna cool it on the fangirling of Ms. Armentrout a bit and talk a smidge about the story. The topic of this story was a tough one and I like how it was weaved into such an epic love story and not make it seem trite. Avery was recovering or trying to recover from a bad experience from her past and she was all alone with no support but when she literally ran into Cameron her life changed. Meeting Cam made her want to truly heal so she can truly live. I could see how her friendship and blossoming romance with Cam made her strong to take the steps she needed to take for her recovery. Abuse is always hard to recover from and the development of the story made Avery's progression believable.
I loved the dynamic between the characters in the story. The cast of characters was the perfect back drop to Cam and Avery's love story. Their interactions added a lot to the book. I love Jacob, I thought he was a trip and hope to see more of him. Would love to one day maybe see his own HEA. Brit and Ollie were great but don't know much about them on that deeper level yet. Maybe I'll find out soon? But Raphael was my favorite, wish he was in the story more. LOL.
I truly enjoyed this book. When I start reading Ms. Armentrout's books I seem to just crawl inside them and get completely lost in her worlds. Whether from reality or supernatural, her writing has this relatability (is that a word? Oh well.)to it. I feel I know her characters on a personal level and I get invested in their life and so consumed with seeing them get a happy ending. This was a great book I should have read a long time ago. show less

I immediately connected with Avery, and was immensely curious as to what happened 5 years ago at Halloween. I know that it effects her still and caused her to go across the country in order to be unknown at a new college, a fresh start. She starts her first day by literally running into campus legend, the hot Cam. Her embarrassment and running I can definitely understand, but I admired her bravery by going to her next class at least. As I found out what happened to her, and what she was still facing, my heart broke for her.
Cam is so amazing. I loved his backstory, his patience, his "arrogance," his soft side, and his connection with his family. He had such funny, touching and also seriously swoon worthy moments with Avery. I loved show more also that he could cook, and that he was good at it. He wanted to share his goodies with everyone... and I don't know what it is about JLA and cookies, but there is another great and sexy cookie moment in this one too.
Wait for You is an intense and gritty contemporary, but it still has the JLA addictiveness, awesome heroine, setting, theme and I can't put this down if I tried appeal. This is def for mature teens and adults because of mature and dark themes, sexual content (nothing too graphic, but more than your average ya), self harm, sexual assault, and drinking underage.
I enjoyed the setting, it is refreshing to be at a college campus instead of high school like I am used to with YA. It felt authentic, and made me remember my college days walking around campus and trying to make new friends. The pacing is great as well, I never wanted to put it down, and not a second was I bored.
The bullying and the power of rumors in this one really struck home with me. I have never had anything this traumatic, and when I dealt with cutting and eating disorders, I was lucky to have friend and parental support. But what she went through with her parents, and what they forced her to do, all for the image of their family in the community shocked and appalled me!
I loved Avery's journey to healing and trusting Cam, and her friends. I also liked that while there was attraction at first sight, it was a slow and awesome build into love and a relationship.
I also really enjoyed Britt and Jacob--they were Avery's friends, and it was a true friendship. I loved how they ragged on one another, but at the end of the day supported each other. They are the kind of friends I love to read about and that everyone should have.
The threads of this story tied up well, and I was so proud of Avery's journey to loving herself again and allowing herself to trust and be loved by others. But I can't wait to see what Be With Me has in store for us.
Bottom Line: Amazingly awesome, sweet and swoonworthy but dark and emotional all at the same time. show less

This is the kind of New Adult book I'd been avoiding. Not because there was anything wrong with it, but Avery's back story, which is a major plot point, was the kind of plot point that just didn't seem interesting to me. Too angsty, I guess. But everybody raves about Jennifer Armentrout/J. Lynn and it was at BEA, so there wasn't really any harm in me grabbing this one (and her other NA title). There wasn't all that much NA to be had at BEA since it's fairly new, so I was happy to grab any I could find.
And honestly, I was pleasantly surprised.
I started reading because my reading has had a SERIOUS lack of sexy times lately, so why not? Plus, with SO many people loving Jennifer/J. Lynn, I figured this couldn't let me down as my show more stuck-in-a-car-for-three-hours read. It was lighter on the sexy times than I expected, but it was engaging. Engaging enough that I flipped through most of the 500 page ARC in the car and finished the last 40 or so pages within an hour of getting out of the car, despite everything I should have been doing. Like eating.
Avery was the kind of character I could really sympathize with. I've never been in her situation, but the general distrust of people, the friendship problems, I totally understood it. I didn't always agree with her decisions, but I understood where they were all coming from. She was the kind of character that just made sense and it felt pretty real.
Cameron, on the other hand, was not at all real. Don't get me wrong, he was sweet and smart and just a genuine good guy, and - of course- gorgeous. But he was way too good to be true. Just...too perfect. I was in the kind of mood reading it where I didn't really mind, but it's something to be aware of.
I think the story was well paced. The book takes place over about a year, but it's a fast, page-turning read. I never got bored. A lot of care was definitely taken to make sure we skipped the boring parts and focused on the important scenes. Sometimes the time jumps weren't given enough real feeling, so I'd forget a few days had gone by, but it was largely done well. The side characters could've been given some more depth, but I really liked them. For the most part, they were well built. I did have problems with her one friend, Jacob, being a bit of a stereotype, but not enough to totally throw me off. I loved the banter the characters had. I definitely smothered a giggle a couple of times.
This is not going to be a book for everyone. It definitely has its' issues and it's nothing that blows you out of the water. This might not have been the right book for me if I'd been in a different mood. But the story itself and the way I read it made me pretty much love this book, despair over the fact my copy of Frigid isn't here, and add all of the other books in the Wait for You series to my goodreads wishlist.
