We did not read the other books first, but were able to piece together people drawn from previous books.
We were sorely disappointed by the end---is there another book, or is that it? All that was at the end of the book was blank pages and chapter 4 then chapter 3 of a book that looked like it might be the first in the series??
The boys enjoyed it until the end...quick, action...

This book is about a fifteen-year-old boy named Francis. He's travelling across Western America in the mid-1880's. He carries along with him two orphaned children. He found them while he was riding in his previous adventure. One day they hear a woman scream, so they go where it came from and found an American soldier trying to hurt a Mexican couple. The soldier tries to shoot Francis on sight, and the bullet hits Francis in the face. Francis accidentally fires his rilfe when he hits the ground, and the bullet goes into the soldier's chest and kills him. When the army finds Francis and learns about what he's done, they track him down. Although it takes them awhile, the army catches up to Francis and tells him that he must be hanged.
I show more thought this book was very good. Although he was supposed to be hanged, Francis escaped with the help of his good friend Jason Grimes. They run from the army in the middle of the night. Somehow Mr. Grimes got away for some reason. Francis and the kids get captured by the Comancheros, a Mexican tribe. They travel a long way, and finally reach the campsite. A little later, Mr. Grimes arrives, but he has beer with him. Intelligently, Jason got all of the Mexicans drunk and asleep first. Using this as an advantage, the gang slips away. Then they keep running until they are safe again. show less

Tucket and his charges run into trouble with outlaws, but also meet an old friend. And then a decision has to be made.
This was a shorter book in the series, ending in a cliffhanger of sorts.

My family and I read this series on a looong car ride cross county. It suited everyone and made for a great family memory.
This book is about three children named tucket, billy, and lottie. in this story the children go out to find tuchets parents when they got seperated when he got taken by indians in the last book. now he is trying to find his way home to the west when he gets side traked in mexico. as the young tucket fights for his and his fellow childrens lives he meets many friends and enemies along the way. with his fight for survival raging on he gets taken by the a group of mexican men named comancheros. this was the finall act which turn young tucket into a young man and the true fight for his life to get to his friends and parents.
This book is about a boy named Tucket he also has three other siblings. When they were riding the heard a loud scream for help. he suddenly leaped off his hourse to go see what was going wrong. Suddenly a guy came out with a Hispanic women by her hair. Tucket pulled is rifle out and the guy tried to shhot him. he shot and got a direct hit. After that he knew that he had to atleast tell the captain the US sergant was hurting a Hispanic women. When he rode up to base they all came up and pointed there guns at the three. Then a nice young man came up told them to follow him they went to captains office and explained what happemed. He wanted to hang Tucket but the nice guy let them go. He sent them to another base to get food. When the show more arrived they got all the food they needed. After riding 11 miles they took a rest. Tucket was awakened by Hispanic guy. He was stalking them. Then they rode off and they got attacked by mean cowoys. they took them on to there base. when Tucket could see he looked in a cracked piece od wood and saw everything. A firce man name the mountin man ride upp and noticed Tucket. He tried to escape with them until a dog barked and woke everyone up. The mountin man told them to go west so they wouldnt get into any other further trouble.
I thought this book is a 4. it has everything but what happens to the mountin man. I still thought it was a great book though. My favorite part was when he shoy the US man and got away with it. I would encourage all readers to read this book. show less
