For the new Urtext edition of Beethoven's Missa solemnis op. 123 Carus was able to call on Ernst Herttrich, the experienced Beethoven specialist. Herttrich, who for many years has been the Editorial Director of the New Beethoven Complete Edition, as well as Director of the publishing company Beethoven Haus Bonn, is thoroughly familiar with the idiosyncrasies of Beethoven's handwriting and the enormous challenges presented by the editing of hisworks. As a result, a new edition of the Missa solemnis based on the latest musicological research is now available.
