Delilah is aggravated by a local empty lot full of trash, and is inspired to clean it up for all her neighbors to be able to use the lot for enjoyment, like a park, which is a noble aspiration. All her friends eagerly agree and see the logic of what she wants, but Delilah has a problem with being a bit too bossy, and she has to learn a lesson that one attracts more ants with honey rather than vinegar. This is a good example of a fantasy because animals are talking and interacting, but cleaning, teamwork, and getting along are all real life agendas that need to be addressed and practiced.
The characters in this story are very unique. Each one is an animal that starts with a different letter and has a name that also starts with that letter. They also have a personality characteristic attached to that letter. Although this story is short, these characteristics were displayed frequently. For example, Selvester the Stubborn Squirrel refused to help clean up the mess at first. ( )
