This is the first book I've read by Erica Spindler, but I can assure you it won't be the last! Having read several glowing reviews, I picked this book up, and even though I have a huge TBR pile, I started Justice for Sara immediately & was instantly hooked. It's been a while since I've read anything that grabbed me from the opening words & didn't let go until the last page. I was swept into the story & the characters lives feeling every emotional, nail biting, sit on the edge of your seat moment. Just when you thought you had it all figured out, something else came to light that totally blew that theory! And just in case you can't tell....I loved this book! If you like a really good, suspenseful mystery with a little romance that in no show more way overshadows the plot, then you will not want to miss Justice for Sara! show less
From Amazon:

A WOMAN DETERMINED TO UNCOVER THE TRUTH ABOUT HER PAST.

When rebellious seventeen-year-old Katherine McCall awakened one morning to find her sister, Sara, viciously murdered, her whole life changed in the blink of an eye. Kat was named the prime suspect, charged, and tried—and found innocent. But not everyone agreed with the verdict, and Kat’s only choice was to leave her family behind and go into hiding. She carried a dark secret with her for years…until, on the tenth anniversary of Sara’s death, Kat receives an anonymous letter that reads: What about justice for Sara?

A KILLER WHO WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO KEEP THE TRUTH BURIED…
When Kat returns to her Louisiana hometown to investigate the days surrounding Sara’s show more death she learns that the cost of justice may be too high. The murderer, who seems to have never left Liberty, is on her trail. In a place filled suspicion and secrets, Kat has only one ally: Sergeant Luke Tanner. He is the son of Liberty’s former police chief, the very man who led the rush to judgment against her. With no one to trust and a killer fighting to keep a dark secret from coming to light, Kat must decide if justice is worth fighting—or dying—for.

My Thoughts:

Not the first Erica Spindler book I've ever read...but it may well be the best. The story flashes back and forth between 2003--the year of the murder--and 2013, revealing bits and pieces of various individuals' activities then and now. As we close in on finding the true killer, the pages turn more rapidly. Numerous possible suspects had me guessing and wondering, but the final reveal had more layers than I had expected, and the surprises were very satisfactory. Justice for Sara had a nice mix of mystery and romance. Five stars.

I have read many books by Erica Spindler and enjoyed all of them, including this one. This is the story of two sisters, Katherine and Sara. When their parents die in an accident, a young Sara is left to care for her teenage sister Katherine. The sisters are fortunate that their parents were financially well-off, but Katherine is not happy that her sister is now her guardian, and as teens often do, she rebels and causes trouble. It's no surprise then, when Sara is found brutally murdered, all eyes turn to Katherine. While Katherine is found innocent in a court of law, it's the court of public opinion that matters most. Katherine leaves town for a decade and builds a good life for herself, but is tempted by a mysterious letter writer into show more coming back and finding out what really happened to her sister all those years ago. A more mature Katherine has to face her past, which isn't easy when she seems to have enemies everywhere. It's hard to tell who might be a suspect or who just doesn't trust her. She develops a romantic relationship with the Chief of Police's son, the same Chief of Police who was determined to see her locked up. The book was very fast-paced and hard to put down. I became suspicious about a certain character about midway through the book, and while my suspicious paid off, there was still a huge twist I didn't expect. Kept me interested up until the very end. show less
You’ve lost your parents and now you’ve lost your sister who is also your guardian to a brutal murder. Unfortunately for you, people want to consider you the prime suspect due to the money you’re set to inherit. Although a jury finds you not guilty, there are many who disagree. This is the situation Katherine (Kat) finds herself living.
Skip ahead 10 years and Kat still feels guilt and hatred from people in her hometown. She decides to go back and confront the secrets and find out the truth about her sister.
The book goes back-and-forth between present day and 10 years ago, but it’s pretty easy to follow along once you grasp the characters. I found this book to be an easy, quick read with plenty of suspense. Like all if Erica show more Spindler’s books, she will keep you guessing almost right up to the end. show less
Kat McCall is back. Ten years ago she was accused of killing her sister and was found not guilty. With the help of Luke Tanner she has to convince the town of her innocence and find the real killer.

Wrap this books cover up and I would still know it is an Erica Spindler. It has the usual mixture of the thrills and a romance thrown in.

The story is quite average but has enough to keep the readers interest going and has quite a pleasing but predictable ending.

Erica Spindler is quite good at what she does and my favourite of her was ‘Shocking Pink’ and since that I haven’t found a book by her that is as good but she is still worth while seeking out.
Another great book by Spindler! Kat was a rebellious teen trying to find her way after her parent's sudden death. Her sister, bludgeoned to death by her softball bat, needs justice. Kat is accused of the murder, but the case isn't that simple. Ten years after the murder, kat returns to find the killer, opening a can of worms. It turns out several people had motive, and it's up to kat and her hunky sheriff, Luke, to figure it out. This book twists and turns until the very end.
Predicable, but well written and a good time.
