What happens when two men who have been together for seventeen years fall out of love? Sivan Cruz, a set director in San Francisco, and Walter Wainwright, a big shot Bay Area lawyer, find out the hard way. Walter loves Sivan with all his heart but rarely talks about it, and Sivan needs to hear the words. The language of the love they have shared for so long, that has enabled them to build a life together and raise two children, stops working. They become-still. When Sivan asks for a divorce, Walter doesn't know how to say no. They separate, but while Sivan sees the relationship as over, Walter sees only a temporary setback. He has never lost his passion for Sivan and decides he has to say something before he ends up loving his husband in silence for the rest of his life.… (more)

Another book I couldn't put down. Beautifully written with characters that just take hold of me.

Sivan and Walter are an established couple and the opening chapter is all about their separating.... End of story, right? No, not at all. We are then basically introduced to them, find out how their relationship starts. And believe me, it's with a bang!

Then we jump back to the currant time, skipping all of the in-between years. While I could read a novel three times the length of this story about this couple, I didn't feel the missing years were crucial to the story.

The journey of these two MC's, trying to find their place in a world where they are no longer married is a very well written one. Stories like this are why I love this author. ( )

This was another of those books I wasn’t going to read. But I ended up with not having a better option on my phone when my last book finished (I’d just finished the marshal series) so I hit play.

Honestly I’m glad I did. This isn’t what I expected. I thought I’d be getting a lot of time jumping between past and present, a lot of over the top drama and fighting and just soap opera type crap or desperate house wives vibes (both make me cringe.). But it wasn’t like that at all.

There was some times bouncing, but all of it was relevant to the story and done in a way that didn’t annoy me.

There was drama but nothing over the top.

And a thriller aspect was there that I didn’t expect before I started reading.

I enjoyed it and glad I didn’t skip it.

Mary Calmes is my feel good, need a quick dash of happy author. This new story continues with many of the same themes as her other books and to be honest it could have easily been a side story of Jory's. I still liked it. Still made me happy. ( )
