When his twin sister, Philippa, is kidnapped by the Great Blue Djinn in order to succeed the Great Blue Djinn herself, John, along with his two uncles (turned rottweilers) brave the monsters of subterranean palace of Ishtar in order to save her.

Personally, I like the books in this adventure series. They are lighter than Harry Potter, but just as magical, enchanting, and fraught with dangerous adventure.
I really enjoy reading this series. This particular story took me a while to get into. The plot in the first book was very engaging and easier to follow. I am still missing bits that help to understand what role djinn have in the world of mundanes. Or are mundanes in the world of djinn??
SuperPizzaBoy and I just finished Book Two of the Children of the Lamp Series "The Blue Djinn of Babylon."

Its a great story about two preteen djinn John and Philppa Gaunt (genies to you "mundanes" out there) who this time travel the world looking for a lost a lost of book of djinn secrets, the "Solomon Grimoire." John and Philippa have all sorts of adventures and misadventures. We learn all about djinns in the meantime.
Part two of the Children of the Lamp series. This book had a faster pace than the first and revealed a few more secrets regarding the djinn world. Also included is instructions for a Djinn dice game. I enjoyed this more than the first and am ready to dive into #3.
I just could not make myself finsih it. It was slow moving and filled with tongue in cheek references to all of the mysteries of life, which it relegated to the workings of the Djinn. I like fantasy but this one couldn't hold my attention.
A great sequel to the Akehtan Adventure! Lots of cliffhangers and exciting moments. This is not that much of a challenging book, so I would recommend this to weaker readers, but is a great read for stronger ones as well.
I disliked the first book in the series so much, I didn't even read this one. I tried reading a few pages here and there throughout the book, but it just didn't grab me.
