Fox is such a cute character; he takes everything literally. I liked how when his mother told him to make a friend he literally tried to make a friend out of sticks and an apple! Throughout the book, Fox would fail at "making" a friend with sticks, but he would gain one with the help he has from the other animals who helped him build a friend. The illustrations are beautiful, they look like Relf took the book and just started drawing in it with a colored pencil. This is by far one of my favorite illustrations in a children's book.
When Fox decides to make a new friend he starts with an apple on a stick. That doesn't work - and nor do a turnip or a pumpkin. But Squirrel and Rabbit have come to help ...maybe making friends isn't so hard after all? A warm, appealing story with a strong emotional pull.
This book is a wonderful fantasy book with genuine illustrations that can help students determine the meaning and main idea of the book. Kids will enjoy the context and the fact that animals are the main characters.
A fox tries to build a friend out of sticks. With the help of other animals they make a big stick friend, but he doesn't talk. In the end they found they all found new friends in themselves.
Fox and friends try to "make" a friend out of sticks, pumpkins etc... They learn how really make friends in the process
Great for grades k-2. Story about making friends. The children can write a story about how they met some of their friends.
