Description

"On December 7, 1941, the Japanese Empire stunned the world with a surprise attack on the United States Navel Base at Pearl Harbor. The courage and glory, the infamy and scandal, make that day one of the most important moments in American history. Here is that electrifying story, told in words and photographs, many of the pictures rare, others published here for the very first time. The fascinating saga that is Pearl Harbor begins before the attack, in Europe, Japan and behind the scenes in show more the U.S. We meet a desperate Churchill, an inspired Yamamoto, a determined Roosevelt. Then the attack itself is memorably presented in all its unparalleled fury. Japan had hoped to cripple an enemy. In the end, it awakened a sleeping giant." show less

Pictorial history by Time Life Books with an Introduction by Hugh Sidey. The first 50 pages provide a "lead in" to the attack on Pearl Harbor in an atempt to explain the Japanese actions. NUmerous photographs taken on Decemebr 7th are provided, and at the end of the book there is a series of deatiled first person accounts - which include several women: an Army Nurse, a civilian, and a journalist.
