I liked this book for several reasons. First, the vibrant colors and sketches of the illustrations play significant roles in creating the mood as the story progresses. These illustrations help the reader to know how they should be feeling during that moment in the reading. Second, the text provides playful rhymes for the reader to follow as it is read, providing a smooth fluency. For example, “Whatever her mission, she always succeeds. A benevolent elephant on a flying stampede,” shares a rhyming sound with succeeds and stampede. Finally, this book is a quick and easy read, but it contains a rich amount of challenging vocabulary terms for a younger audience to tackle like, “savanna,” “patrolling,” “labor,” “mission,” “succeeds,” “benevolent,” “stampede,” “billowing,” and so many more. The overall message of the book portrays perseverance in helping others who are in danger and guiding them to safety. ( )

There are moments when the rhyme and rhythm don't flow quite right, but the creative concept and art make up for it.

I absolutely love this silly book. My preschoolers (2-4 YO) cracked up and asked me to read it over and over!

Plot:
This little elecopter can do amazing things! She starts out helping little animals and doing little task. Then she sees smoke! OH NO! Why is there smoke? Is anyone going to get hurt? Can she save all the animals? Does she need help?
Read the book to find out!

Happy Reading! ( )

Summary: Elecopter is a blue elephant helicopter who is rescuing all the wild animals from a wild fire. She will use her ladder, rope and trunk to get animals from the fire, then when all the animals are safe, she will use her trunk filled with water as a fire hose to put the fire out.
Personal reaction: This book is a good book for a younger group of children 2-3 year olds. It was fun and easy to read to the children,
Extension: I would use this book to teach on fire safety and helping our friends.
