Pete the Cat The First Thanksgiving is about Pete's role as a pilgrim in his Thanksgiving play with his class. The central lesson of this story is to retell the pilgrim's journey from England to the New World in a fun way. Having Pete as a pilgrim made the story fun and easy to read. The lift-the-flap pages made the book interactive. ( )

Pete the cat books are great for teaching points and student engagement. This one is about thanksgiving and the first thanksgiving that got it all started. ( )

This is a wonderful children’s book about Pete the Cat and his role in his school’s production of the first thanksgiving. This story was written by Kimberly and James Dean and follows the main character, Pete the Cat. The illustrations and lift-a-flaps really enhance the story where Pete plays a pilgrim and gets to “journey back in time” to see how the pilgrims lived when they first came to the New World. I really like how interactive this book is and how it teaches children about a very important historical event in a fun, creative way. ( )

Thanksgiving might even make the "coolest" cat a little nervous. But after he gets on the stage and talks about the first day of thanksgiving he feels a lot better and makes it fun. This book is also interactive because it has 13 hidden flaps that open to reveal surprises. Which is good for the kinetic learners who need to feel and touch with learning.

This is a great book in my opinion! I really like how interactive the book is, and how the pages flip up. I also like how the book incorporates a cat into a human story. I think that this gave the story an interesting, surprising element. The book gets its central message across very clearly. The central message of the book is that the first Thanksgiving was an important part in history and without it we would not be where we were today, especially on Thanksgiving. I also liked how the book was about history, but was a fun read. The cat and interactive elements of the book gave it a very interesting appeal to me as a reader. ( )
