Emerge is a New Adult romance novel and is book one of the Evolve Series, I was completely hooked to this as soon as I started reading. Laney is a tomboy, she loves nothing more than fishing with her dad and playing softball. Her mom left her when she was small and she has issues about that which you find out as the story plays out. Laney has a best friend called Evan, he stuck up for her when she was small and since then they have been inseparable apart from Laney’s other best friend Kaitlyn. Laney and Evan get really close and start dating which just makes their relationship all that more special but as Laney waits and waits for her acceptance letter for UGA where Evan is also going she starts to get nervous. Her letter doesn’t come and she has to go to GSU, it is time for her to make a grown up decision. She doesn’t wait to hear about Evan’s conquests or that he is cheating on her so she decides it is better for them both to break up.
Laney seems to change a lot in Southern, from a young girl to a woman, where back home no one was really interested in her she is now getting plenty of interest. When she meets Dane Kendrick a young man that doesn’t actually go to Southern but hangs in his brothers dorm most of the time something switches, he nicknames her Disney and he is vying for her affections the problem is Laney still loves Evan, but is she in love or just loves him because that is all she has known up until now?
I absolutely LOVED this book. It was told in three different people’s views, Laney’s, Evan’s and Dane’s, and there were many times I was shouting at Laney…”Stop leading him on” ” sort your head out Laney!” and “noooo”. The whole book was a complete roller coaster of emotions from anger, frustration, happy, tearful, overjoyed, distressed and so on.
I was kept on my toes throughout and I couldn’t put the book down as I needed to know what happened next I didn’t want to miss a thing.
Emerge was very well written and a joy to read, I am really looking forward to reading book #2 of the Evolve Series in the Fall. This is one of my favorite books so far. ( )

Nearly threw this one out around 25% when a supposedly sympathetic character calls another a “fag” for liking the fox and the hound and no other person in the room, which includes almost every sympathetic character, calls this out or remarks on it. It would have been fine if I had! I’m sure it’s heartfelt or whatever but biiiiiig yikes all around from just all kinds of angles. ( )

LOVED it. It is a straight forward love triangle romance so if that isn't your thing, then don't read this. I thought it was well written, I enjoyed the characters, and I never got bored or thought the story was slow. I finished it in a few hours ( )

Laney is the girl-next-door tomboy and Evan is her best friend until college gets in their way. She meets Dane, who has a magnetic attraction for her. Usual love triangle fluff.

This seemed like the typical poorly-edited free romance digital book - until the very end. Then I got stinkin' mad. The rest of the series isn't available on the Nook. It also ended with a cliffhanger. So I went to find out what happened in the next books. The love triangle got resolved, but not in the way I thought it would. And then *he* ends up with *her*!?!? Ugh. So mad.

Edit: I was so upset by the ending that I was physically sick and nauseated for a bit. (It's not a bad ending or author, but I didn't like it.) ( )

It started kind of slow, but got good very quickly. Loved Dane? ( )
