I have a weird relationship with Lisa Scottoline's books in that they're quite engrossing and I enjoy the plots but I'm not a big fan of the way she writes. I wish there was more for us to guess and we didn't have the main points/problems hammered home every paragraph--I understood the consequences of their actions the first time I read them, thank you very much. This also became a bit unnecessarily over-the-top plot-wise.

Worth reading though! I'll probably pick up another one of her books in another few months and have a similar reaction. ( )

Jake Buckman’s relationship with his 16 year old son is a Ricky, distant one. So, when his wife, Pam, asks Jake to pick Ryan up from a movie, he does so. On their way home, Ryan convinces his dad to let Ryan drive the last leg home even though it is after his driving hours as a teen. Enroute Ryan accidentally hits a jogger who ends up being a student from his school. In a moment of panic, Jake decided that his son’s future would not be defined by one moment and they leave the scene. Now, it seems the nightmare has just begun as each tries to cope with what they did. (Ending too “fixed.”). ( )

"Keep Quiet" is a novel about family secrets and how hard they are on a child. I've listened to the book before, and it is just as chilling as the first time. It has a lot of "ripping off scabs." It is a very good read. ( )
